About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I've been on CS since its beginnings, I both hosted and stayed extensively thanks to the website (yeah, it used to be a free website before it turned to a for-profit app).

I despise guys mistaking couchsurfing and Tinder. I want to welcome both men and women at my place with no back thoughts, as this website was first meant to be.

ABOUT ME

I'm a guy of 34 who has lived many things. I've tried all kinds of jobs from waiter to bricklayer, including salesman and scuba instructor.

I also lived in different places, Mexico, Australia, Spain. I am now back in the Paris area, living actually 500m away from the capital, on the Hoche metro station (line 5).

I traveled the world for several years. Planning ahead is not really something I tend to do, I usually prefer improvising my way. You never know who you're going to meet or what's going to happen !
I am a vegetarian and an ecologist as much as I can be.
My rythm of life is quite sane dedicating a lot of time doing sports.

PHILOSOPHY

"Be interested in many things and try to learn"
"The journey is the destination" Dan Eldon
"Laugh, and the world will laugh with you. Cry, and you will cry alone." Oh Daesu
Get rid of your expectations in order to avoid disappointment.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have used Couch surfing a lot, both for traveling and hosting, and most of the experiences were great.
Unfortunately I could see many changes (often not for the best) on CS when it switched from a not-for-profit organization to a corporate thing.

Interests

Music is something I can't live without, I'm really open-minded and listen to all kinds : Jazz, Electro, Rock, Reggae, Rap, Punk, Classic... It's just that I listen to music all the time, whatever I'm doing.
I love rollerskating.
I used to be a scuba instructor. Marine life fascinates me. I do a lot of rockclimbing
and some canyoneering.
I have my own stand up paddle board and love this activity whenever I get a chance to practice.
I like to spend time reading, I don't have a TV... and I sometimes ride my motorbike going nowhere, for the simple pleasure of riding.
I also have a van I turned into a basic camper.

Music, Movies, and Books

The Shawshank Redemption, with Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman
I'd say my favourite singer is Nina Simone, and my best 2 bands are Creedence Clearwater Revival and Blink 182. I recently got addicted to Emancipator's "Remixes" album.
I usually read classic books, I really liked Orwell and Huxley, I'm intrigated by Kerouac, and loved so many... I'm not a big reader though, but I try to diversify my readings. More recently it's been more about ecology, or general sciences.
i highly recommend "A short history of nearly everything" by Bill Bryson.
"The Four Agreements" by Miguel Ruiz and "The Peaceful Warrior" by Dan Millman changed my life and my perceptions.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveled everywhere around Australia and had the most amazing experiences there : swimming with the whale-shark, skydiving, bungee-jumping, jumping in new friends' car to drive back to places I've already visited just to spend more time with them.
One of my best encounters was in Spain, offering a tour to a blind guy who travels the world alone. He's now a good friend and I'm still in touch with him. I never told him directly, but he gave me good lessons about life when I visited places with him, he's interesting and has a good philosophy.

Teach, Learn, Share

Fluent in three languages (French, English and Spanish), I experienced all kinds of job, from construction to hospitality, through management and sales... Music is a passion even though I don't play any instrument. I am also quite good with massages, curious about other languages, and can discuss nearly every topic without pretending knowing everything. On the contrary, I tend to listen to people when it comes to a subject I know few things about.
If anyone is interested in learning fire breathing, I can teach easily.

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you want to do some sport, I'm quite active.
