ABOUT ME

I'm a product of your typical immigrant story. My parents immigrated from Mexico to the US and I was born in Los Angeles. Since the day I was born my parents instilled in me their Mexican traditions and never even spoke a lick of English to me. Thus, I was always very torn between two different cultures, the Mexican one and my American one. I think it's this clash of cultures that has sparked a love of traveling and meeting different people that have complex backgrounds like myself.
Aside from my upbringing, I am a very outgoing and charismatic person. I have always had an adventurous and spontaneous mentality, which has translated into my passion for rock climbing. Rock climbing is something I have been doing for years, and is the one thing I can't live without. Besides my adventurous side, I have always been the extroverted kind who would rather go out a night with friends than stay in for a movie or games, not that that isn't fun at all! This love for meeting new people and experiencing new cultures has driven me to exploit the opportunities I have available as a student to study abroad. I've studied in both Spain and England and loved every second of it! I was even lucky enough to fall in love with an English girl who I'm hoping to take on this wonderful couchsurfing experience with me :)

Like Steve Jobs said, if at any point in my life I feel like I am not living my life to the fullest, then I am not doing something right and something needs to change.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My couchsurfing experience is just beginning, but my curiosity has been sparked by wonderful couch surfers I have met all over the world urging me to try it.

Food! I love cooking it, smelling it, eating it, learning about it and everything in between. I was always fascinated by the way food is able to bring people together from different cultures. Often times people don't want to learn someone else's language or traditions, but no one will ever turn down a tasty plate of food! :)
It would be unfair to say rock climbing is merely an interest of mine. What began as a hobby 5 years ago has slowly turned into a consuming passion. This sport has allowed me to travel the world climbing tuffa covered caves in Spain to limestone cliffs by the seaside in England.
Beer and partying! After countless hours spent studying in the library during the week, I am not ashamed to say I love going out on weekends with friends and having 2 or 3 beers... Or 5 or 6 haha.
Reading, sharing Ideas and having intellectual conversations. It's fascinating meeting people from all over the world and hearing different people's outlook on life :)

Music- A little bit of everything I would say from the intoxicating blues of Miles Davis to some James Brown Funk to some soulful Marvin Gaye and Donnie Hathaway and some of course some Led Zeppelin. However, if I had to narrow it down I'd say my favorite genre is some classic rock or the blues.

Books- When I'm not busy with schoolwork you can catch me reading something by Hemingway or Herman Hesse. I always loved Hemingway's tales of travel and drinking and fishing and bullfighting in Spain! I also love the complex and deeply introspective novels of Hesse, particularly Steppenwolf,

I was just in Pamplona last night for the San Fermin Festival and can honestly say it was the best night/day of my life! I partied with the locals into the wee hours of the morning and ran with the bulls at 8am. I can try to describe it all i want, but words will not do justice to my incredible experience that night/day.
