Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I say hello to my host and surfers

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Impressive one: Two squats in Maastricht. CS flat I live now.

Not so impressive one but also not too bad: When there's a person canceled you in a very last minute without any "good" reason and "throw" you to other host, which you barely know, and you have no clue what to talk to your host cause you never read their profile and have no idea what would be suitable as pick up line. Awkward moment.

Interests

Music. Social Media. Books. Cooking. Films. Great food. Cultures. Maps. Beach. Languages. Nerdy. Writing. Climbing. Old building photographs. Postcards. Italian Ice Cream. From all, I'm interested to human being.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love new british music era like Artic Monkeys, The Kooks, Two Doors Cinema Club, etc. Or maybe old era like Radiohead, The Cure, Morrissey, Oasis, Pulp, etc. I also love Icelandic music like Sigur Ros or Bjork; electro-techno-experimental-new wave-whatsoever like Air, M83, Apparat, Empire of the Sun, Digitalism, VHS or Beta; or a calming music just like Beirut, Kings of Convenience, Russian Red, Feist, Imogen Heap, Club 8, etc..

Movies: It's really hard to tell because I don't have any specific preferences. I just enjoy watching movies. I like movie like Fight Club, Guy Ritchie's, Michele Gondry's, Wes Anderson's, LOTR, or Harry Potter; but I also love Toy Story, Kungfu Panda, Up; or a movie like Serendipity, Love Me if You Dare, Love Actually, Before Sunrise, or even Oldboy.

Books: Hmmm. From Catcher in The Rye, Lovely Bones, Five People You Meet in Heaven, Tuesdays with Morrie, The Alchemist, Sophie's World, Tolkien's, JK Rowling's, Khaled Hosseini's, until a recipe book.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

These are what I consider as amazing things:

- Communication technology invention. How crowdsourcing and people who are miles away from natural hazards contribute to the relief.
- Took an economy class train in Indonesia for 887 km, 20 hrs, and only cost about 3 Euro.
- Walked 6 hrs in dark and in real muddy rain forest to reach main island from Sempu Island (a hiding island pretty similar with PhiPhi in Thailand), while me, another 7 friends, and one injured friend, only had 2 small lanterns.
- Went to a hiding beautiful beach in Jogjakarta. White sand, amazing waves, that was awesome.
- Acrossing Bali strait from Banyuwangi to Bali with small ship and such waves.
- Nice friendly people who live in squats in Maastricht!
- The similarity between traffic in Rome and Jakarta
- Sunset in Ostia Antica

But so to say, life in general ;)

Teach, Learn, Share

I would say the basic idea of couchsurfing is about trusting people and I would like to learn that.

Teach: I could teach you how to make the best Indonesian dish and how to make chicken feet dim sum. Or I can teach you how to squatting properly.

Share: mmmm from a classical one like story or experience, until a non-classical one like bad jokes or sarcasm or recipes.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, Vatican City State

Countries I’ve Lived In
