About Me

I have been traveling since 2011 and I spent 5 years cycling around the World.

I rode my bicycle for 45,000 Km around Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand, and America. Wild camping and living on the road.

Previously, I hitchhiked more than 20,000 Km, I put my feet on 25 countries thumbing up.

I travel with no plans, no return tickets, no final destinations. I like to slow travel, get to discover the countries I visit.

January 2011: I started to travel.

I planned to make a few short trips during the year, my plan failed. I got caught by the travel bug, I started to join the dots and I didn't come back home; I just continue backpacking on Europe. In a couple of months I replaced my first low cost flights for my thumb. I started to hitchhike.

Hitchhiking I covered thousands of kilometres, always without real plans, usually without map. I enjoy uncertainty, I still do. Reach a new country, a new currency and a new language without any previous research boost my adrenaline, make me feel life.

My adventures continued around Europe, Morocco and SE Asia for a year and a half.

I ended up in England in summer 2012 with the goal to save up to travel around the world by bicycle.

End of 2013, I started to pedal out of England heading south towards the sun and the summer, out of the cold and away from the British winter.

During the 5 years cycling around the world almost a year and a half in China, 10 of those months working in China doing a myriad of different jobs. It was fun figuring things out.

I cycled through Europe and Asia, Australia and New Zealand, the trip ended cycling from San Francisco to New York.

I moved to Latvia afterwards and I only did some month-long trips during the following 3 years.

Currently figuring out where to head next.

I love Couchsurfing, meeting local people, hanging out and sharing my time and life with another people around the world. People is the key for traveling, if there would be no people to meet I would rather stay at home.

I love to discover new countries, meals and drinks. I am more interested in knowing about you than about the touristic stuff, getting to know how life is in every place I visit. But I love to walk around in every city where I arrive, discover the vibe of the city and wonder around, and go for hikes to explore amazing landscapes.

I like food, specially with good company. I like to try new flavours, new recipes, new cuisines.

I don't smoke, I enjoy the small and simple pleasures of life. I love the human contact, chat and share.

I like challenges. If I decide I want to achieve something, I will find the way. I enjoy beating the odds.

I am confident, assertive and outspoken. I am spontaneous, bold and adventurous. I am resourceful, persistent and weariless.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have been an active Couchsurfing member since 2011. I have helped build local communities and organised events in different European cities.

I love to hang out, meet new people, share stories, walk around the city and have interesting conversations.

Interests

I am very curious about nearly everything so I like learning about new stuff, visiting new places and finding fun things to do.

I want to discover new things, move away from the monotony. Open my life to new people.

My main interest when traveling is seeing how life is in different parts of the world, how daily life blend with traditions.

I am interested in the cuisine of different parts of the world. Testing recipes unknown to me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I cycled around the world for 5 years, 50,000 Km and 30 countries.

I lived, worked and travelled in China for over a year.

I quit my job, left everything behind and started to travel. Twice.

I have lived a nomadic life since January 2011.

I hitchhike a lot, covering countries just lifting my thumb. Enjoying the road meetings, just for fun.

I wild camp on a daily basis. Sleeping under the stars.

Lived and temporarily worked in 7 different countries.

I am proficient in multiple areas. I would never define myself by my profession. Who are you? What do you do? I live my life and enjoy my freedom.

I am job-free. That doesn't mean I don't work, but that's not my priority and I create my own jobs as I feel like. I sell photographs, write, teach photography or languages, do coaching, build websites or whatever is the next thing I may come up with.

You don't need much money to travel and see the world. I have been traveling on a budget for as long as I can remember. 3 USD a day could be enough in the early 2010s if you gave up comfort. Nowadays I might splurge or wild camp depending on the trip.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach Spanish, help to improve your grammar, vocabulary or/and pronunciation. How to do Sangría. To fix some computer problems. How to hitchhike or find cheap flights. How to quit your job and travel. Encourage you to change things and do those you are procrastinating. Just do it!

I am a professional photographer and I can teach about digital photography, different techniques and photo processing.

Learn about the experiences of another travelers, about the locals and the traditional rituals, meals and customs. I like to learn random stuff, but I would love to learn how to do good massages.

Share my experiences, advices about the places I have been, encourage to travel. But before all else share good mood, hugs, drinks.
