About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Even though it might sound cheesy or whatnot, my current mission is to find myself. I have studied biotechnology for the past 5 years of my life, and when I finally graduated I looked up from all the books and notes and realized... ooops!

ABOUT ME

Curious, shy(ish), abstract, mentally calm but physically hiperactive... I guess those are a few adjectives that nail me down pretty well. I have always had very particular interests, even as a child, when everyone would be playing soccer I would be looking at plants or insects with an old magnifying glass, amazed by the life that sorrounded me. Eventually there came a time when I was expected to merge with the rest, and it hasn't been until now that I have started rediscovering myself. Even college left a passive feeling inside me, like I was ment to be doing something bigger, different.
I studied biotechnology, in line with what apparently suited my curiosity best. But after 5 years of studying very hard, I realized that doing research didn't make me feel how I expected it to, so I booked a flight to Ghana and spent three months living with a family in a fishers town, with no bathroom, no sink, no TV... just me surrounded by an incredible landskape and an amazing culture completely different from mine.
There, I tought biology and computers at one of the local schools, but my true mission was to educate teachers and parents on why not to use corporal punishment against children under any circumstances. I had never had to face situations like those, and I had no prior education on these matters, but I had such a positive effect on the population, thay made me feel so loved and learned so much from what I had tought them, that it opened me up to a new world.
So now, I'm back to that old magnifying glass. I have found an incredible pleasure in travelling. It's almost like I need to meet new people, different cultures and different perspectives to feel at ease with myself. So that is what I am looking for right now, to keep moving.
I am currently designing the web page for my NGO (www.evangghana.org), teaching english at a school and gymnastics at another one, studying innovation and entrepreneurship courses online and awaiting to be accepted at Malta to study a Masters in "Creativity and Innovation".

PHILOSOPHY

"It's always nice to be nice". A random fisherman I met travelling around Ghana used those exact words, and ever since they have been my guideline. It's amazing how far a smile and some nice words can take you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I wish I could host other couchsurfers in my home, but I don't live alone and the circumstances are not the right ones, so what I am looking for is for hosts who enjoy the city they live in and would like to show me around, meet with friends, drink some beers and share experiences and thoughts.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

NONE

Interests

I am open to anything, I am sure I have interests that even I don't know about, but the ones I do know about are: sports such as gymnastics, tennis, skiing, surfing, etc., technology, science, airplane modelling, travelling, entrepreneurship, volunteering, keeping the environment clean, innovating in every aspect of life and of course, cooking and eating (but nice and healthy always :))
I must say, I am not the party tipe, even though I do enjoy them ocasionally, but I would rather hang aout with small groups of people at places where the volume of the music lets you have a conversation.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: there is a never ending list of these. I watch many movies, enjoy them all no matter what genre, but I do seem to like science fiction, thrillers, terror and good romantic movies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have done a handstand on the top of the highest mountain in Spain, I've introduced a new way of thinking and educating in a whole community of African people, I stopped a group of teenage girls from being caned by their teacher, helped regenerate a liver through research while working at a lab in the US and I once tried to fly attaching wings to my skateboard and epiclly failed.

Teach, Learn, Share

I think I have many things to teach, and many more to learn. I have recently found great pleasure in teaching, and doing so is one of the most satisfactory things in life, so I am always open to sharing, teaching and learning.

Countries I’ve Visited
