About Me

I was living in The Netherlands but now I´m back in Bolivia and I´ll be here for some time. I love traveling and being in contact with different cultures; I also like to learn languages and have friends from all over the world. Multicultural friendship is very important to me since it opens up my mind in different ways. About my sexuality, I´m gay and I mostly like gay places when I go out, but I can deal with other kind of places as well.

Estaba viviendo en Holanda pero ahora estoy en Bolivia por algún tiempo. Me apasiona viajar y conocer culturas diferentes. Siempre que puedo viajo. También me gustan mucho los idiomas; tuve la oportunidad de estudiar algunos. Soy una persona tranquila y me gusta tener amigos de todas partes del mundo. Soy gay.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

There are several reasons for being on Couchsurfing. By staying with local people you get a deeper understanding of the culture and traditions. Besides this fact, hotels are expensive.

Por varias razones estoy en Couchsurfing. Me atrae la idea de conocer varias culturas y costumbres. También por razones económicas ya que pagar un hotel por varios días requiere mucho dinero.

About traveling and couchsurfing:

I have a different philosophy about traveling in relation to many people´s perception on this issue. First of all, traveling does not necessarily mean being on holiday; traveling does not mean that you are going to stay in a luxury hotel, even better than your own home; traveling does not mean that you should expect to have all kinds of comforts while you are staying in another country; traveling does not mean that you are going to eat only in “good places” or luxury restaurants; traveling does not mean flying in business class to feel superior and have a better service than the rest of passengers; traveling does not mean hiring a Tour Operator in order to visit the city attractions (unless the attractions have a difficult access or the tour cost is almost the same as if you were going independently); traveling does not mean that you are going to buy only expensive souvenirs to remember your “unforgettable trip”; traveling does not mean only pleasure and relax; traveling does not mean that you´re going to visit only “beautiful places”; traveling does not mean that you are going to lie down on a beach to have a Piña Colada; traveling does not mean that you will always be with your friends or relatives.

Traveling means having contact with different people; traveling means getting to know (at least superficially) different cultures, traditions or customs; traveling means making friends from all kinds of backgrounds, religious beliefs, occupations, sexual orientations, etc; traveling means learning from different cultures and opening up your mind to different world views; traveling means getting used to different cultures; traveling means that sometimes you have to go through difficult or dangerous situations; traveling means that not everything is relax and pleasure but also sadness, insecurity or distress; traveling means that sometimes you´re not going to sleep well but in poor conditions (at the airport, at the train station, in the bus or on the flat of your friend with no mattress); traveling means that you can visit fantastic places on a low budget; traveling means that many times you will be alone and there will be nobody to help you out, but on the way you have the possibility to make new friends; traveling means that you´re going to visit sad places (such as Auschwitz) but you´re going to learn from them. Finally, traveling means to understand that the best way to know a different culture is staying with local people rather than in hostels; that´s what couchsurfing is about.
