PHILOSOPHY

I think I speak for Jon and I when I say that both of our college educations combined couldn't teach us half of what we'll learn from traveling. We want to see and experience as much as we can before our time is up, try not to regret what is already done, and we are both constantly searching for that inner peace that we know is out there but is currently hard to see with our changing and growing lives. We both want to change the world in our own way (by medicine and teaching), but know that in the end, experiencing different places will change us in its own subtle (or not subtle) way.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We have couch surfed during our travels in South America, and have hosted several friends and couch surfers since returning to the States and settling in Seattle. Even though we are working and in school, we still love getting out in the Pacific NW.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have surfed before in Australia and Jon and I both surfed with several hosts in South America. We have loved the people we have met and been extremely appreciative of their generosity.

兴趣

I am an ex college soccer player, always looking for another challenge. I love sushi, beer, bonfires, sports, snowboarding, hiking (anything outdoors), reading, writing and mostly I love people and learning about each person's story and perspective on this crazy world we live in.

Jon loves soccer, basketball, biking (anything outdoor or sports related as well), peanut butter, cheese, being goofy, making a difference (hence the teaching career) and having good beer and good conversation with great friends.

Movies we both love include The Shawshank Redemption, Ace Ventura, Boondock Saints and Remember the Titans.

Our music tastes differ, but we can both agree on some good Creedence Clearwater Revival, Rodrigo y Gabriela, and Michael Franti.

As for books, Jon loves the Lord of the Rings series, and we have both read all of Harry Potter. Recent books we have both read and enjoyed include Unbroken, Born to Run and No Shortcuts to the Top.

Scuba diving with hammerhead sharks in the Galapagos and summiting Huayna Potosi (20,000 ft!) in Bolivia to see the sun rise over the Bolivian Andes.

We are both eager to learn Spanish. We are interested in different cultures and customs as well. We are both avid explorers and hikers, and have a sound knowledge of the Pacific Northwest in the US and what it has to offer for outdoor enthusiasts. We both got our undergraduate degrees in science, so we are well versed on biology from marine animals to the human body and love to talk nerdy about it. I am now a Registered Nurse and Jon is working towards his Master's in Teaching at the high school level, so we are always happy to talk about health and education.

Stories, conversation, and beer, wine, or baked goods depending on their preference! We specialize in making sweet potato burritos and did that for several hosts in South America.
