About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To conquer land where I've not conquered before

ABOUT ME

Calm (most of the time), perceptive (almost psychic at times), inquisitive (I must have been a cat in a previous life), slightly erratic (aren't we all), but absolutely friendly (I try). Love learning language and culture. Adore tennis, but don't play it. Not into the chase for trends: it's too costly and time-consuming.

You are The Hermit
Prudence, Caution, Deliberation.
The Hermit points to all things hidden, such as knowledge and inspiration, hidden enemies. The illumination is from within, and retirement from participation in current events.
The Hermit is a card of introspection, analysis and, well, virginity. You do not desire to socialize; the card indicates, instead, a desire for peace and solitude. You prefer to take the time to think, organize, ruminate, take stock. There may be feelings of frustration and discontent but these feelings eventually lead to enlightenment, illumination, clarity.
The Hermit represents a wise, inspirational person, friend, teacher, therapist. This a person who can shine a light on things that were previously mysterious and confusing.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is like an atom: there is a defined core with a realm of relative possibilities orbiting around it. Do note that there are many different elements that exist in this world. We should learn to respect (if not accept) others' characteristics. Except if they really rub us the wrong way, haha.

Never stop learning or you'll stop growing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I truly enjoy showing travellers around and sharing our life experiences and musings on various topics. I have hosted a few folks; two of them even stayed with me for two months(!)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had my first couchsurfing experience in June 2009 and stayed in Groningen, Paris and Berlin. I am very happy to say that I've lived to tell my tale, and I enjoyed my time through and through! My hosts were very hospitable and friendly. I have since also played host myself to a few couchsurfers. While many of us might often think the world has become a colder place, couchsurfers truly remind us that there's still hope left in this world, some warmth for us to relight our spirits!

Interests

Good books, music, movies, coffee, making new friends, engaging in interesting conversations; basically, just widening my horizon! There is no end of what one can learn in a lifetime; only death and the boundaries of one's paradigm.

Music, Movies, and Books

People whose music has been in heavy rotation on my Youtube viewing for the past few years: Chet Baker, Nick Drake, Teresa Teng, Yagami Junko, the Carpenters, Francoise Hardy.
Movies that I have seen more than 5 times: Sleepless in Seattle, When Harry Met Sally, While You Are Sleeping, Carrie, Demons 1 and 2, That Thing You Do!, Drop Dead Gorgeous, Abre Los Ojos
Books I have read more than once and still haven't gone tired of: The Party's Over by Caroline B. Cooney, Love Match by Robert Westall, Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I outdrank a German at beer!!!
I 'sleepwalked' from the bar to my hotel in Berlin in one piece, and I even managed to double locked my door!!!

Teach, Learn, Share

Always ask for permission before touching things that aren't yours, and pick up whatever you've left behind.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My dry wit, and my appetite for good food and music.

Australia, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Japan, Malaysia, Netherlands, Switzerland, Taiwan, United Kingdom, United States
