About Me

Hello everybody!
My name is Padazis and I am a 26-year-old Greek guy. I have no brothers or sisters and I live in Thessaloniki (second largest city in Greece). I speak Modern Greek (native) and English (very well), but I can also communicate in French at an intermediate level. I believe I am a sociable, open-minded and polite person, but you are going to ''judge'' that :)

About my studies and job experience:
I hold a Bachelor's in Greek Language and Literature (with specialization in Classics) from the University of Ioannina, Greece. I am currently a Master's student in Historical and Balkan Linguistics at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece.
In 2015 I carried out an internship as a Modern Greek Language teacher to foreigners at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Moreover, in 2017 I taught Modern Greek, through the Erasmus Placement Programme, at the Hellenic Foundation for Culture in Bucharest, where I also acted as an examiner in the oral modules for the Greek Language certification.

I love Linguistics and I enjoy learning about other people's languages and cultures.

Let's meet up! :))

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Since I was a kid I had a dream to meet foreign people, live abroad and learn many languages. I really want to travel and interact with other humans and understand the way others think and live. Making trips would be the best choice in order to improve my language skills for my personal satisfaction and for scientific purposes :) I would also love to make friends from foreign countries.
Couchsurfing seems to be the most appropriate site for me, because it is an economic way to travel and, besides that, it's the best way to meet a person by sharing the same roof!

Interests

I like playing the guitar (I'm an intermediate), listening to music, gathering with friends and reading only the books I'm interested in.

Music, Movies, and Books

When I am in a good and vivid mood I listen to foreign pop music. I like pop and rock balads and some quiet, relaxing music ( e.g. Yann Tiersen). I also listen to Greek songs, but only specific genres.
Movies: I prefer action, adventure and thriller movies. I adore fiction and special effects. I avoid dramas, because they are too sad for me.
I largely read linguistics, mythology and some history.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 15 years old I participated to an exchange programme with my school in Belgium. I lived for a week in a French-speaking family I never knew before. That was an experience I will never forget....

Plus, during the Easter Vacations of 2017 I visited 6 European cities in 10 days. So far it has been the best travelling experience I have ever had :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm an amateur on guitar, but I could teach the basics to a guest. Plus, as a Greek linguist I would like to teach some basics of Modern Greek, if somebody is interested in.

I like conversations about civilizations and I am very keen to learn the features of your culture and language :)

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Hungary, Slovakia, Turkey

Countries I’ve Lived In

Greece, Romania
