About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Food, music and gratitude.
ABOUT ME
Well, I don't pay attention to expiration dates, my favorite game is Dizzy Bat and Larry David is my hero, I ride my bike everywhere and roll up my right pant leg so it doesn't get caught in the sprockets, lawn gnomes boggle my mind and I spend most of my energy thinking about and playing music.
As for the real stuff, I just graduated from Central Michigan University with a degree in communication and then I moved to Oregon on a whim where I work for a volunteer action agency called HandsOn. Then I moved into the woods on a family farm where I've spent the last 3 getting to know nature, natural resources, and myself. We started out living in tents, then built the Earthship I currently inhabit.
I'm really into natural building (cob, earth rammed tires, straw bail, chopping down trees and making stuff out of them, etc...) as well as growing and raising my own food.
PHILOSOPHY
My mom always used to say "life's short, eat dessert first" and I've overheard my aunt saying, on multiple occasions, "well...its always best to start with a break". I don't know how to smash those two quotes together but I think that collectively they're some pretty good words to live by :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've surfed all over and I'm ready to host anyone who needs a place to stay because I think that the first step to world peace is opening up your couch for the world to fall asleep on.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I couch surfed all over Europe, one random weekend in Detroit, and on the left coast in Oregon.
Interests
I'm interested in a whole bunch of things, but the loves of my life are: making music, trees, gardens, writing and reading (fiction and poetry), and conversing with fellow human beings.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I'm a complete bluegrass hole. I play ukulele, guitar, and I'm just getting used to the mandolin.
Books: Anna Karenina is without a doubt my favorite. I can get into any really really long book though. Oh, and I cried when I read Peter Pan...its beautiful.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My proudest moment was when I wiped a booger on the ass of a camel that was taking me from a Tuareg encampment in the Sahara back to Timbuktu.
One time I grew all my own fruits and vegetables.
One time I stayed warm for a whole winter by chopping down trees and cutting them up with just a saw and a hatchet.
Teach, Learn, Share
Throw paper airplanes off of tall places and watch them fall to the ground. One time I threw a paper airplane off a cliff in Mali and to watch it fall to the ground was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. So if you're ever in a tall place and have a piece of paper try it out and you'll be amazed :) (Oh, and then pick it up and throw it in the recycle bin)
