Overview
About Me
Hey there, My name is Padraig and i grew up in the west coast of Ireland.
I was born on a dairy farm in the west of Ireland so I grew up in an environment where everyone speaks to each other. Age doesnt matter so you speak to everyone from a 5 year old to a 95 year old. :) Growing up on a dairy farm exposes you to a lot about food, nature and flavour and makes you aware of the environment you live in. I absolutely love good quality food including great speciality coffee & Cacao/Chocolate. Im also a member of the Coffee and Cacao world associations and have visited Organic farms all over the world (India, Ecuador and Colombia extensively) and like to get involved in helping educate farmers in poorer countries. So I probably learnt more about life from growing up on a farm than anything in University or in my working career. I studied as an engineer in a small city in Ireland in Galway for 4 years. But to be honest i studied more the social life than the engineering. :)
I am also huge into understanding cultures from the Celts, Aztecs, Pyramids of Egypt, Gopleki temple Turkey, . You name it any culture on any country. If there is something to learn i will listen. Im also interested in many alternative topics from Astronomy, Archaeology to Reiki, Shamanism etc.
I love many varieties of music including Salsa(Why i ended up in Cali Colombia), Classical , Irish and all the rest which i wont name as the list goes on.
I absolutely and unbelievably love the outdoors to feel that fresh wind hit the face and fresh air while hiking/trekking in the mountains. So i try as much as possible to go hiking and on mountaineering expeditions when possible.
Generally I'm a very outgoing person and love meeting new people. I've lived in various locations with work but also have had some amazing trips to India, Thailand, All over North and South America. I'm always interested in learning new things and absolutely adore music, new cultures and friendly people.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Im on couchsurfing because i like to meet open minded people. Life gets boring with monotony. Lets face it who wants to stay in a hotel on their own. They are souless places. I have worked in many countries and stayed in many hotels and find them unbelievably boring. However with couchsurfing it gives an opportunity to meet open minded people and if i can teach or share any knowledge i have i would love to do this. Whether it is helping someone with something in regards to Yoga, meditation, Learning english, Cooking, exercise, etc. On the otherhand that local in whatever town i will stay in can help me with the local knowledge of nice places to visit, history of the area, places to eat and a lot more knowledge than will ever fit on this forum. I'm not a big technology person and do not have a twitter, instagram account and barely use facebook but i do love meeting people and socialising as i do with my friends back home. Socialising in Ireland is very different. Everyone talks to each other. I have noticed in many countries this is not the case. Are we losing the ability to talk to each other? I cant imagine our ancestors could have survived like this. So I love going out for good coffee and good food with friends .
