ABOUT ME

I am a witty, friendly, fun and encouraging person who likes to believe anything can be done. I am religious in my treatment and care for others, the golden rule sort of thing. I like people around me to be happy and when I feel I am causing a problem I always attempt to fix it. I am adventurous and always like to try new things. I love kids. I was a teacher and youth mentor for many years. I come from a missionary family. I am a dreamer and an artist and I love to create, whether it's inventing an interesting dish or painting and writing. I tend to get along with people who do not take themselves too seriously. My easy going nature means I am always up for creating fun and a comfortable environment for everyone. I am not that shy once I get to understand a person or a group's dynamics. I have been described as reserved upon first introductions. I love to inspire and motivate people and children especially find me a unique and creative person to be around.

PHILOSOPHY

I like to be good to people and have the 'good samaritan' sort of heart. I am a life long learner and I try to bring enthusiasm to encourage others by.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I don't have a place of my own at the moment but I would love to visit someone else's couch! If it helps I can cook, clean and I have years of child care and teaching experience. On the other end, I am an eccentric artist for those who want to be around someone who will say thoughtful open things.

Interests

I am an artist and writer. I have had plenty of experience in education, teaching reading, science, history, religion etc. There is typically nothing that bores me. I find all aspects of human life an adventure. I am a deep thinker and analyzer and love complex discussions about the world, humanity and emotions. I enjoy being a muse and encouraging people to follow their dreams and be adventurous and now I am working on living mine!

Music, Movies, and Books

It's so pop culture but I am a total Michael Crichton fan...you know, Jurrasic Park lol. I love science fiction and ALL kinds of music. I love anything I can dance to and am not shy about hitting the dance floor with a beer in hand...martinis don't work so well on the dance floor I discovered!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have traveled much of the United States. I am originally from the south but have spent the majority of my adulthood in California, one of the grooviest states. I have done a lot of missionary work in the inner city in California and Mexico. Traveling the U.S. by car or train is quite awe inspiring. You get to see the amazing weather and beautiful landscapes of this vast country. I was particularly struck by the sunsets in New Mexico, the storms in Oklahoma and coastal Georgia, the history of the east coast, and I think the mountains and beaches of California will always be my first and true love.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have been described as a natural teacher. I have taught myself French and I am great at showing people they can learn anything they want. My particular expertise is technological and educational (teaching methods etc). I am an artist and writer but I do consider myself still learning those things. I can share what I do however! I could probably teach accents, everyone says I am great at this lol.
