About Me

CURRENT MISSION

do good, yo

ABOUT ME

I graduated with a BA in English, so naturally I work at a really cool restaurant now and love a good espresso. If you want to eat a ton of awesome food, I'm your dude.

PHILOSOPHY

When using the Internet, use it as a means to get off your butt, rather than sit on it all day. [Note: I fail at this almost every hour I am awake and not working.]

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My couch is a rad 1970s Southwestern futon in the living room. We have lots of spare blankets and pillows and can probably accommodate two people tops.

I know the Austin food+drink and film scene well, so I can give lots of pointers on that.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Hung out with Surfers at a friend's place. Now I live there and handle the hosting duties. My favorite things to do with surfers: eat, drink a beer, and kayak on the many beautiful lakes around Austin. I'm a nightlife person, but I like to chill out and talk more than anything in the world.

Interests

Mostly indie, punk, chiptunes, and electronica. Postcolonial literature. Western and Japanese animation. FOOD.

Most of all, I love going for night hikes with some alcohol. Or watching a good movie. Or eating a great meal. All with great company, of course.

Music, Movies, and Books

Animated and foreign (particularly HK, Italian, and Japanese) cinema. Comics and postmodern/postcolonial literature.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveling by train from Paris to Grenoble and staying in a commune in the French Alps.

Working in the culinary/hospitality industry in Austin. Top-notch people all around.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach some basic Japanese, music theory, film theory, animation theory...basically lots of nerdy stuff.

I'd like to learn more about exercise and fitness, outdoorsy stuff, basically anything to get me more active and have fun outside of my house. I love cooking, so I'm always excited to learn new cooking methods and recipes.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, France, Italy, Mexico, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
