关于我

CURRENT MISSION

Sink or swim, always gotta be divng in - you miss all the shots you don't take after all

ABOUT ME

I'm trying to get back into my backpacker/low key/go with the flow mentality. I worked in a stressful job for about 4 years and didn't like how it was changing me. So, I decided to go back to school, and also to take six months off to travel beforehand. It's been awesome to put myself back in new situations where I'm meeting new people and learning about new cultures. I look forward to more of those situations in my next two months of travel.

PHILOSOPHY

"Sanity is the playground for the unimaginative." I'm not that extreme, however, I like the intent of the phrase. You need to step out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself constantly.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I think I have a unique background and am excited to share my experiences with others.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've only had one CS type experience and that was in Copenhagen. A friend introduced me to his buddy that lived there via email. I showed up at his apartment and we had an awesome weekend. He showed me around Copenhagen from the bikes we had rented and went to the best club I've ever been to in my life. Despite only spending 48 hours together, we're still really good friends and that's why I like the idea of couchsurfing.

兴趣

Right now, I'm really into learning about history, politics and religion. In travelling, I learned that I know nothing about any religion besides Christianity. In SE Asia, there were Buddhist and Hindu structures and I had no clue about it. The whole experience was very humbling. The same thing happened in Morocco with Islam and now I'm trying to learn more about all these religions and cultures. It's definitely awesome to do the outdoor activities and museums where you're travelling, but it's not enough and you really need to dig deeper.

For this month, I'm super into the World Cup. I'm watching a lot of the games and am fully supporting the USA in the tournament.

音乐、电影和书籍

Love movies - I think it's a result of growing up in Southern California. I actually like the cheesiest movies best since they can be watched over and over again and quoted amongst friends. Pretty much anything Will Ferrell does is brilliant in my opinion.

Music-wise, I listen to what the radio tells to me to. I'm a big pop / top40 fan and enjoy rocking out at bars to the most recent hits. As an example, at a bar in Kusadasi, Turkey, I hopped up on the bar and danced to Kesha "Your Love is My Drug". Absolutely terrible song, but amazing at the same time. If someone tells me a band is good, I'll listen to it and will generally like. I'm just not proactive enough on music.

I am terrible at starting a new book, however, when I start one, I generally can't put it down. It's that initial hurdle that's tough.
