Overview
About Me
My biggest passion in life is following the path that leads to greater self-awareness. It turns out that a person learns some cool things when their biggest goal is to know themselves fully. I feel a sense of duty to share my learning with others, and that's why I'm moving to San Francisco from Minneapolis, Minnesota to start a Master's in Somatic Psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies in late August.
I grew up in Maine and moved out to Minnesota to go to college at a school that was well known for study abroad programs. I have always been big on travel -- it's a core part of who I am. There are very few things about myself that I derive more meaning from than my experiences in other countries. Exploring foreign cultures and becoming fluent in Spanish has strongly shaped my identity and has challenged me to be more honest with myself about who I am. I am fascinated by language, culture, and social psychology, and consider myself to be, generally speaking, very curious about people. I often welcome opportunities to thoroughly engage another person's mind.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I appreciate the exchange of different perspectives on life, and when possible, some kind of language practice.
Interests
I spend a significant chunk of time practicing Spanish, reading about some new breakthrough in the psychotherapy world, or reading existentialist novels. I also enjoy playing sports, particularly soccer. I play the guitar and sing a little as well (not in a band). Remaining interests involve spending time with close friends and engaging with my community.
