About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Diverse experiences, ability, and understanding. new friends, new horizons, sustainability, and cycling! Live the dream!

ABOUT ME

Fun-loving, easy going, low maintenance, independant, and sustainability-striving renaissance man!

Finally, my home is on the road, living out of a backpack, getting a fresh taste of life's zest.

Aiming to try as many new experiences as possible in order to some direction and discover what I am most passionate about in life. So far I know I love making new friends, looking out on new horizons, energy indepedance, sustainability, farming, and of course, bicycling!

There is so much to learn, do, share, and appreciate. To try everything once might be the ultimate success. Maybe thats my life-long goal? Impossible; yes...but its a challenge worth striving for...

Fortunately, I've been getting a taste of the many flavors of life lately. I am currently traveling for my first time out of the United States. Doing it solo for the extra effect of liberated spontanaity, unique experiences, social interaction, and much more. The past two months of Euro-travel have been incredibly successfull in this attempt to take part in a kaleidoscopic array of special experiences along the way...

From an evangelical divine liturgy to all night binges, naked hiking to fending off vicious dogs, from Eurovision to Eurocup, volunteer farming to volunteer dishwashing, nearby molestation to a romance in madrid, jellyfish stings to eating pounds of crawfish...Europe has been "Wicked Awesome!" (as we'd say in New Hampshire)

Adventure after adventure, I get to live the good life, I'm so fortunate to be Living The Dream and lucky if I get to keep this lifestyle up...

What will I discover next? I'm not sure! Perhaps if I am a guest in your city, you might be be free to show me around for a day or two and take this adventure to another level! Show me how YOU live. Discovering the real-life, local perspective is the best way to travel is it not?

About me and Couchsurfing: While I have surfed many a couch, I have never done any official couchsurfing through this organization. I have hosted a couple surfers so far, but never been an official surfer. However, I can promise you that I will hold up my end of the deal...I am a polite, grateful, and conscientous guest. I like to help out with anything you need in the house, especially cooking. But I can scrub a good dish and mop a floor too (After all, I am a currently a "dishjockey" in Norway). I am a humble yet social houseguest and I will do whatever I can to avoid burdening your living situation. In short...have me over, I dare you!

Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Hope tp see you later,

PHILOSOPHY

By endurance, we conquer. - Sir Ernest Shackleton

To laugh often and love much: To win respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the approbation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty; To find the best in others; To give one's self; To leave the world a little better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or redeemed social condition; To have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exultation; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived... This is to have succeeded.
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservatism, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more dangerous to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man's living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've participated in the CS Project only a bit so far. I've hosted a few surfers over the past couple summers. Most recently, a couple from California stayed at my apartment in Burlington, Vermont for a full week. My roommates and I loved the opportunity to show them around our favorite city. Everyday after work we were stoked to "play ambassador". We brought them cycling, swimming, & rock jumping; out for lunch, into the kitchen for some home-cooked dinners, and then out again for some B-town bashes. I try to treat couch surfers like I would an old friend; Sharing camaraderie and adventure with my guests is a trend I plan to continue, and hope that others will share in return.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Last week at work one of our clients showed up with his girlfriend's placenta in a white bucket. It was horrifying, but hey, at least I can say I've seen a placenta...
