About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To try gelato in as many countries as possible! Climb mountains, meet people, dance, argue, laugh, and plot madcap capers for the rest of my life...

ABOUT ME

I talk to strangers and love making friends from all walks of life. I'm a culture-passionate, opinionated person. I own many bright dresses, enjoy weird hairstyles, and am often boastful about small accomplishments. I love giving directions when people are lost, but I love _getting_ lost even more (as long as I don't have to be somewhere!).

PHILOSOPHY

To learn and to grow through learning. Life is always richer, sadder, and funnier than we ever could expect!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been hosting couchsurfers at my home since May 2010, and had the opportunity to couchsurf in Argentina, Uruguay, and Peru in 2010; Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, and Denmark in 2013. In addition, I have been an active mentor for Mentor St. Louis the last eleven years and contribute to many activist efforts.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted so many lovely people passing through St. Louis--a singer-songwriter from New York, a Danish guy hitch-hiking north, a Southern sweetie following a folk band, a chill comedian from Ohio, an Italian guitarist, a German student, an environmental scientist, a Swedish woman who plays "new-grass" music, a Polish botanist, a California novelist, and an Israeli anthropologist.

As for my own surfing, I couchsurfed through South America in June and July of 2010--a truly tremendous experience. And in Ma!ne the Summer of 2012. And Eastern Europe in 2013!

Interests

Some of this is covered in the "About Me" section, but here goes: film, art, music (both mainstream and "quality"), bowling, fashion, shopping, dining, imbibing, discovering something strange and hidden in a place I thought I knew well, activism, old houses, playgrounds, ice cream trucks, airplanes, poetry.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm good at writing, showing off cities, and giving directions. I can also teach you how to do an aerial cartwheel (if given a proper amount of time to practice beforehand). I can teach you how to make a really easy omelet using unsweetened soy milk. I can teach you how to make a quality Manhattan. I can teach you arm-wrestling strategies.
