Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
A while ago I travelled with a friend through the south of France and we couchsurfed (for the first time) in three different cities. It was such a wonderful experience, people were so open minded,so hospitably and each host had an interesting story! So I make my couch now available also for surfers that want to get to know Cologne and I hope to return the favor !

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I did couchsurfing in one summer and it was an amazing experience. I like the concept, I think with no other way of travelling you can get such a good insight in people and the place you want to visit. We were two girls travelling in the south of France and we stayed with very different kind of people, each wanting to share something with us and at no point we felt uncomfortable as girls staying at guys houses, everybody was nice and discrete. Our first Host was a young biologist doing research for a company. He took us with him and his work collegues to a field trip in the countryside next to a wonderful lake to catch bats for research. So basically on our first night, we found ourselves in the middle of a group of french scientists, helping them to put the nets for the bats somewhere out of town...:) Everybody was curious, friendly and we even had a barbecue and sat all together on the partition of the lake watching the shooting stars in this starry bright night. But this was by far not all, just to mention a few things: he hosted both of us for four nights, gave us his bed and slept himself on our matresses ! In the second city where we couchsurfed, we were hosted by two unemployed persons who showed us how they live their lives against all prejudices. We stayed with them for two days and were very considerate .We had a great last day at the beach and talked until 2 o clock in the morning in the harbor about our political and religious views. Our third host was a Gandhi activist and shared also another philosophy of life...we went through Carcassonne at night...wonderful !
