About Me

CURRENT MISSION

"Nimm dir Zeit für deine Träume, bevor die Zeit dir deine Träume nimmt!"

ABOUT ME

Well, where to start...

I am almost done with my studies and I love to travel. Got addicted to traveling back in 2008 when I participated in an High School exchange program to the lovely United States of America. I ended up in the deep South, in Tennessee, and I fell in love with the state and also the people. Met people who changed my life tremendously and now those people are my best friends and also family. After returning from this one year exchange, I've been flying back to the States as often as possible about 8 weeks per year. Traveled pretty much all over the South Eastern States and discovered some incredible places.

Once I finished my High School degree, I spent 10 1/2 weeks overseas and another 5 1/2 weeks down under in Australia. Discovered the east coast down there and visited one of my good friends who is studying in Sydney. Made a short stop in Singapore on my way back.
The following year (2013) I backpacked Tanzania, where awesome memories were made.

As of right now, I just finished University. Besides that I worked as a translator at University to raise money for the big adventure that started in September 2019. My wife and I are traveling around the world for 14 months.

In my free time, I play lots of sports. I have done Judo since I was 5 years old and I am still quite competitive and fight in the second German national league (2. Bundesliga). Besides Judo, I do CrossFit and love Olympic Weightlifting. I got my diving license in 2019 and I try to dive local lakes as often as I can. I also like to cook with my flatmates, go out to party, read (listen to) good (audio)books, and have great chats with people.

I think that's enough for now. Just meet me in person and you'll get to know more about myself.

PHILOSOPHY

"If you're twenty-two, physically fit, hungry to learn and be better, I urge you to travel—as far and as widely as possible. Sleep on floors if you have to. Find out how other people live and eat and cook. Learn from them—wherever you go."
Anthony Bourdain

"All you've got to do is decide to go and the hardest part is over. So go!"
Tony Wheeler

“All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveler is unaware.”
Martin Buber

"God cannot give us a happiness and peace apart from himself, because it is not there. There is no such thing."
C.S. Lewis

"I have had more trouble with myself than with any other man."
Dwight L. Moody

"No man, for any considerable period, can wear one face to himself and another to the multitude, without finally getting bewildered as to which may be the true."
Nathaniel Hawthorne

"The question isn't who is going to let me; it's who is going to stop me!"
Ayn Rand

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

"Surfing" around the world.
Haven't hosted anyone yet, but my home is your home once we're back in Germany.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

CouchSurfed in Mongolia, Japan, Australia, Tanzania, Dresden, and Munich. Especially my "surfing" in Australia and Tanzania were two very controversial experiences. While I "surfed" in complete luxury in one country I have experienced no running or hot water, no air condition, no nothing in the other. Wouldn't want to miss it though, cause it opened my eyes to a completely different world. Every couch I have surfed was a wonderful experience and I have met great people and minds along the way.
I'm looking forward to meeting new people in different countries and get to know their culture.

Interests

All kind of sports.
Good music.
Meeting up with friends.
Exploring the beauty of this planet.
Laughing.
Learning new things.
Enjoying nature.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spending time with the nomads in Mongolia and sleeping in their yurt/ger.
Attending Judo practice at Kōdōkan, the birthplace of Judo.
The view off of House Mountain in Knoxville, Tennessee.
The moment my best friend and I got to Tybee Island, set up our tent, and walked to the beach. It felt like it was our private beach.
Tubing and wakeboarding on Norris Lake in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Hiking the Blue Mountains in Australia and the Yarra Ranges National Park with a snake encounter.
The national parks in Northern Tanzania, especially the Ngorongoro Crater where we watched lions have a gnu for lunch while 30 hyenas gathered around to get their share. Breath taking!
Seeing the Milky Way, when I walked down the beach in Zanzibar at night!
And last but not least the moment my best friend and I conquered the Buzludzha monument in Bulgaria!
