ABOUT ME
It all started when I was born...
This is important! I am rewriting this, just in case the original version wasn't clear to anyone. I love traveling. I have enjoyed traveling all my life. I traveled with my family when I was young. I traveled to the UK alone at 13 years of age for a month, and I went on my first Arctic Expedition at the age of 18, and began leading such Expeditions at 21. In researching the first Arctic trip, I discovered that I had already checked out every book in the local library already before the age of 12. As well as organizing numerous canoe trips at my College Outing Club. I organized these trips as a VOLUNTEER. I never accepted Money or considered it at a profession. After running several businesses in Construction and Computing for many years that left me without time to travel, I sold everything and moved to Brazil where I actually still need to WORK. I don’t have the patience to be an English teacher, so I decided to do something I know and love. I opened a tour business: Pantanal Expeditions.com . I don’t put this here to advertise, I put it here so that it is clear to everyone that I work in ecotourism.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I learned about Couch Surfing from some Belgians that were participating in an experimental new route with me. I thought it was cool, so I joined. Several years passed, and eventually a few foreigners asked me to host them and I accepted. Some of the people we host do a tour with our company, and many don’t. We host people. That is mostly what my wife and I do in Couch Surfing, and we enjoy it. I also give advice in forums, and I also have small financial to couch surfing, and encourage you to do the same.
House Rules:
Rule 1- We try not to make rules unless we find a need for it.
Rule 2 – If you break something fix it. It may look like it was almost broken anyway, but it was probably that way for a very long time. If you can afford to travel around the world, you can probably afford to repair that old thing you broke.
Rule 3 – If you are going to leave your bags here and take off for a few days, let us know when you are going, or leave a note. Please, no more missing persons reports!
Please understand that we can´t offer free tours of the Pantanal. Tours require significant quantities of diesel fuel, motorboat fuel, maintenance expenses are grueling, we have to pay our guides, or if I guide then there is no one in the office to do tour sales and we lose money and put our equipment and livelihood at risk. I know, because I have done it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I am not sure if two or three moments are so important.
Teach, Learn, Share
Our backyard is a kind of Botanical garden and pharmacy. The next step is to put some labels on the plants.
I very much like to learn anything I can in any other language. My wife is trying to learn English, and I am a terrible teacher. A lot of people come here speaking using Spanish to communicate in place of Portuguese. If you are not a Spanish native speaker, and you speak English, please try to communicate with her in English or Portuguese, as you can both learn this way.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Unfortunately, I am not at a phase in my life where I have a lot of time to travel for leisure. When I arrive in a city in Brazil, I am usually there to work and while I want to meet the locals and have local insight, I probably have a pretty full agenda, which doesn't make for the best guest.
