About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Is 'explore the world' too mainstream or can I use it? :D

ABOUT ME

Hello there!
I am Paolo, I am 20 years old and I come from Battipaglia, a small town in the south of Italy famous for nothing apart from having the most renomated mozzarella in all the country (yummy!). After finishing my high school I moved to Rome where I've studied for two years before leaving for a semester to Horsens, Denmark, where I started my fantastic couchsurfing experience with my fellow Erasmus friend Kuba ! Now I'm eventually back in Rome to finish my BSc.

PHILOSOPHY

''Brick walls are there for a reason. They let us prove how badly we want things. Brick walls let us show our dedication. “They are there to separate us from the people who don’t really want to achieve their childhood dreams.''

Let's start from this. It's not mine, it's from Randy Pausch, if you don't know him, never mind, here I have got two videos for you ! :D

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BODHsU3hDo4 (short version)

''Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try Again. Fail again. Fail better.''

That's Samuel Beckett ! I usually repeat it to my friends when I'm trying to cook something and it doesn't looks so good ! Jokes apart, that is really part of what drives me on; pushing myself outside of my 'comfort zone', try something new, maybe fail, but still learning something in the process. ''Meglio rimorsi che rimpianti'' we say in Italian :D

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

As for now, I am quite a beginner of couchsurfing ! Actually, before going to Denmark for Erasmus, I barely knew about this awesome opportunity to travel with 'student budget' and meet people at the same time. I hope I will be a good guest !

Interests

Travelling occupies definitely the first spot. I could literally make my life out of it.

Apart from that I am deeply interested in languages and foreign cultures.

  • culture
  • environment
  • dining
  • italian food
  • cooking
  • traveling
  • socializing
  • camping
  • languages
  • study abroad

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a big 'movie-eater'. When I was younger I literally watched only horror movies ! Nowadays I am a bit more flexible and I really enjoy every good movie, no matter what its genre is.

More or less the same for music, I don't really have a favourite kind of, but if I should choose two groups to listen till the end of my days well, I'd go for RHCP and Killers, probably (:

No story for the books: thriller and fantasy, yeh !

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-Travelled through approximately 60% of Europe by camper
-Seen the midnight sun in Nordkapp
-Living an Erasmus experience !

Teach, Learn, Share

I would really like to share about my country, my culture, my language and my stories. I have really got some good ones, my friends can confirm !

And I'm not such a great cook, but maybe I can show you some typical italian food I've learnt to cook so fat!

Apart from that, I also love to share considerations about my current experience in Erasmus, living away from my country, in a totally international environment, travelling to place I've never been before and so on !
