About Me

(Surfers: please read hosting profiles in full - both personal and home sections - it does not take a lot of time, and it's basic common sense)

PAOLO IN A NUTSHELL
A) (Honorary) anthropologist
B) (Honorary) travel photographer
C) (A little more than just honorary) adventurist

1) Accomplished dish-washer (and possibly cook too, but don't bet your stomach on it)
2) Big time addict to cheese, in all its shapes and flavours (but I get along with vegans too)
3) No-frills countryside boy, with a tendency for very engaging conversations
4) Husband to an irreplaceable soul, met under the starry skies of Mt Roraima
5) Introspective dude, on a lifelong mission to learn new things from the world that's out there
6) Constant rummager of cheap fares to anywhere
7) Number-crunching Sherlock Holmes for private companies (aka, cost controller freak)
8) Lifelong sworn enemy of Mr Suit and Mrs Tie (despite overwhelming social pressure, I've fought them off so far)

PHILOSOPHY
Never stop learning while you live
(you can rest as much as you want at the end of it)

Help whenever you can

Smile more, I really meant it... it breaks icebergs

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've been living the Couchsurfing way of life since before CS even started.
Since the beginning of my itinerant life, some long 18 years ago, I have stayed and shared (and helped) locals randomly encountered along my travels - a lot of them are still phenomenal friends to this very day, despite the passing years.

And sure, there may be fakes, idiots, creeps and (increasingly) opportunists, but most of the CS community remains one of the best gifts for the modern-day traveller:
- Helping to break barriers
- Overcome red-tape hurdles
- Facilitate cultural understanding
- Sustaining hope that people can still help for the sake of goodness rather than money

Interests

Travelling (anywhere, anytime)

Learning (anywhere, anytime)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Finding my lovely soulmate under the starry skies of Mt Roraima

Travelling around most of the planet for a combined 10 years of my adult life (trust me, that's a lot of time out there), out of savings from my junior work alone.

Living (and surviving) so many extraordinary adventures that could probably fill two or three lifetimes

(walk, hitch, camp, talk to locals, seek who's seeking help, learn how airlines price their routes, and quit cigarettes/booze... and learn about tax refunds - suddenly travel isn't a far out of reach as many would fear)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Sharing travel advice (a lot of it)

Sharing travel stories (an even bigger lot of it)

Helping finding rock-bottom cheap fares

Cooking some pasta recipes from my overlooked, remote region in Italy

Joining forces for any work/repairs on your house or garden (or boat)
