About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to have contact at home and away with as many people as possible to learn about our wonderful world

ABOUT ME

We just love travelling, but there is not enough time to visit every place on the planet, so we visit some places and host people from other places in the world. We love to travel and learn about the people in the countries we visit so feel couch surfing is the best way to do this.

PHILOSOPHY

If you are feeling overwhelmed or underwhelmed "fake it until you make it"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We really enjoy having travellers stay as we also love to travel and know just how nice it is to be made to feel at home when you are so far from home. We are very sharing people and Gabrielle loves to cook and we also love visitors who can cook for us. We enjoy getting to know couchsurfers who stay with us and if time allows we can also show you around.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We stayed in Morocco with 3 totally different hosts which made our 4 weeks there the most valuable we have had. We felt we were able to really find out how the people live in all the different walks of life. We were able to learn to cook the local dishes which has not been part of our travels previously. We learnt about their beliefs in a relaxed environment and really experienced Moroccan life.

Interests

We are interested in helping our grandchildren to understand tolerance. By being role models in couch surfing we show them what it is like to give back to the travelling community.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love reading almost everything but seem to be able to read only a couple of chapters a day. Our 9 year old grand daughter has put me onto Harry Potter so I started reading them to see what all the fuss is about. J.K. Rowling is a great writer and will be immortalised forever for many generations.Music The CureNick Cave and the Bad SeedsThe BeatlesMidnight OilAustralian music of almost any genre

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We have couch surfed in Morocco and found that to be the best experience of all of our travels. We learned more about the country, their life, their beliefs than in any country we have visited before. If we had our time again we would travel to already visited countries and use couch surfing all the way .

Teach, Learn, Share

Cooking is my forte..I love to give couch surfers a home cooked meal. Particularly if they have been travelling for awhile and maybe roughing it. I love to learn new cooking skills and the best part about couch surfing for me is to watch and help a host prepare a meal in a country who is so culturally different to ours.
