About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Prove that life can be lived without a fixed address!

ABOUT ME

My name is Gustav Andersson. After working at a nine to six job for five years, I decided to try my luck with a less common life path. I decided to become a modern nomad, moving to new places and new experiences every few months.

My hope is that living a more dynamic life with constantly changing surroundings and challenges will result in a wider set of experiences than I could get if I stayed in only one place. Oh, and to have a totally awesome and fun life!

PHILOSOPHY

Old cliches are old because they last! So excuse the obviousness, but I truly believe that life is too short to waste on living timidly. You are more likely to regret a wasted life than one lived excitedly. This really is the foundation of my decision to leave the safety of the 9-5 to venture out into the world as a nomad.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My plan is to stay a few months in each place I visit so that I can participate in whatever the local community does. So it very much depends on where I go.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've had no experience on CouchSurfing.org (I'm just signing up!) but in this first year of my nomadic journey, I've done couch surfed outside this site a lot, both with friends and strangers. So far, it has been amazing! I've loved receiving the inside experience of the local cultures as well as the giving of the nomadic experience.

Interests

Adventures! Any kind, really. I live life for those moments where you go 'Am I really doing this?'

General interests are storytelling, tango, technology.

  • tango
  • technology
  • engineering
  • software

Music, Movies, and Books

Film: The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Book: His Dark Materials.
Music: Sigur Ros and Metallica.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Burning Man, Burning Man, Burning Man. Without competition, the best thing that has ever happened to me. It is my spiritual home and my proof that people are AWESOME!

Teach, Learn, Share

How to live life on the road without a fixed address. I want to share what I've learnt so far as well as learn from others who have lived this life longer than I have.

I am also one hell of a software engineer, so always eager to share that.
