About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To meet as many gorgeous, lovely, smart, funny, charming and outstanding travellers out there.
ABOUT ME
Hi. My name is Nadia and I'm really nice. I'm from a little big city and I always want to be from somewhere bigger, but I like being from somewhere small when I am in a bigger place. I'm aware that it's a little strange. I can be normal, too. I like writing. I cut my own hair, but I don't wear nail polish because it's so difficult to get off again. I like to use the words 'psyched', 'awesome' and 'flabbergasted' and there's nothing I can do about it. I'm no longer a vegetarian. That might be good to know. I really like snakes. And monkeys with big eyes. Actually, I like any animal that has big eyes. They're cute. I have this thing for Australian accents. I also have a thing for the color green. I wish I liked eggplants, but I don't. I wish I could be barefoot all the time, but it really hurts to walk barefoot on the asphalt. Especially if it's hot.
PHILOSOPHY
Treat others as you wish to be treated (except if you wish to be treated kind of weird). I know it's used, old and a cliche, but that doesn't make it any less true!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I once bypassed the opportunity to guide to random Dutch travelers around Copenhagen and it has haunted me to this very day. Now I must make up for it! And so far I have by having hosted so many good people. Now I'm super ready to surf since I'm travelling the great many states of the US.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've met so many cool people. There was Kat who was so accomodating and happy. There was Cindy who was so cute. There was the intelligent and incredibly nice guy Paul. I kind of wish Miranda lived next door, and Rebecca is definitely my favourite lady Aussie and she knows it! We're all friends in Couchsurfing and whoever got this idea was a brilliant dude/lady.
Interests
I'm interested in so much stuff, even things that I didn't even know I was interested in. But let's see... I love everything that is pop culture. I can't help it. I am in love with music, cinema, words and the likes. I like my bike and I'm interested in his well-being. If I knew the rules of American football I'd be into that, too, but I don't. That's too bad.

Music, Movies, and Books
This is not fair. Ok, I'll try. Music first. I love the early Bright Eyes because this was BEFORE Conor heard about money and went all mainstream. There's nothing better than Lifted. FACT. Well, Why's Alopecia is almost better, but still Lifted wins that contest. I also deeply enjoy the southern bar-fight essence of Lucero, the sensitivity of Kevin Devine, the calmness that is Azure Ray and basically everything Saddle Creek EVER put out there. Jason Mraz is amazing because he's so happy and I do admit that my guilty pleasure is Taylor Swift. Have you ever heard Astronautalis? You should. There's the naïve but brilliant Camera Obscura and don't even get me going about how fantastic The Faint is. A tip: don't waste time on The Raconteurs when you could be listening to the solo work of Brendan Benson instead and you have to listen to Creedence at least once a week. Oh, and Arctic Monkeys is the best band in the world.
Then films. Watch Maya Deren. Just do it. You may hate it but you won't be indifferent to it. Elephant is beautiful in all it's simplicity, but then again it's also Gus van Sant. The man can't fail (when he has his heart in it). I'm kind of into every single horror movie that has ever been made except Cannibal Holocaust because that's just trash on celluloid. I'm a John Hughes-girl as well because there's nothing better than watching Breakfast Club on a rainy Sunday evening with a cup of tea. No, there isn't.
Now books. I am being completely sincere when I tell you that I more than love Bret Easton Ellis and his ability to describe such sentimentality in the coldness of his words. That's talent, and I don't care what anyone says! His buddy, Jay McInerney, also writes some fantastic books, especially Big City, Bright Lights. Favorite book of all time though? The Amnesty of the Night by Carina Rydberg. The lady can write. And what about that Jonathan Safran Foer? He's all hyped up for a reason. I also can't enough of The Heart is a Lonely Hunter by Carson McCullers and if I really need to read something that I know will be a total success, I always go for Chuck Palahniuk. And I like Laura Mulvey's essays, but that's the geek speaking.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Travelling around Europe was brilliant and taught me that travelling alone might be perfect for me. The freedom and the knowledge it gives is remarkable and can only be recommended. It has given me such thirst for what's out there and has taught me new sides to independency.
