ABOUT ME
I'm the contemplative, cartwheeling type I suppose. Thinking myself into near-paralysis and coping with it all via outdoor excursions has generally been my way of life. I am, however, anticipating a venture into more sustainable methods of learning and expression in the near future. At the moment, my ideas for that involve...more school.
I spend a lot of time trying to imagine how we (the people) might come upon something better for ourselves. I'm not sure if that struggle of the imagination is aggravated or benefited by my attempts to build something better here and now, but I do try. I also carry around some wild hopes for the future.
PHILOSOPHY
I haven't quite figured it out exactly, but it almost certainly has something to do with back-handsprings.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
First off, I think mobility is key to happiness in a hyper innovative economy, so I want to provide people with hassle-free sleeping options should they find themselves visiting Ann Arbor for some reason.
Second, I like meeting awesome people, and sometimes it's hard to fit that into a day, hence the interest in slumber parties.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I couchsurfed once when I first moved to Ann Arbor, and I hosted a few times when I lived in LA, although my hostees were mostly touring bicyclists from warmshowers.org.
Interests
Just about everything: philanthropy, the open-source movement, organizational structures, teaching, hiking, biking, games, health, math, science, art, love (polyamory). I'm really into analyzing the restructuring of everything at the moment, including whatever it is that you do.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: I'll really like anything really good (the typical award-winning stuff), but generally I won't watch more than a few minutes of anything else.
Music: Iron & Wine, Belle & Sabastian, Magnetic Fields, Sneaker Pimps, Rufus Wainright.
Books: I go through a lot of books. They're all interesting, but I wouldn't say I identify with any of them, yet. I read fiction only about once a year.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Rode my bike from Seattle to LA. The coast was awesome, particularly around Mendocino and Big Sur. I also really liked Tiger Leaping Gorge in China.
Teach, Learn, Share
I've been studying regionalism for the past three years, although I can't claim to have figured it out exactly. I'm working on a degree in information science now. But I can mostly just offer wild predictions about how information will change society. I somehow haven't managed to learn much about the details of how.
Really though, I'm always down for learning whatever someone else has found enthusiasm to study.
In exchange, I can show you how to live off nothing but fruits and vegetables.
