About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To explore and to experience!

ABOUT ME

I am a dreamer and traveller, very open-minded, active, and quite optimistic! My life-time goal is to explore the world, and meet many many awesome people :) !

I was born in Hong Kong, so I speak both Cantonese and English. My dream is to travel around the world and experience the beauty of the world. I'd do everything I can to live an enjoyable life!

I quitted my first job after graduation at a hotel in Hong Kong to and moved to the UK in March 2013. After working at a hotel for over 5 years, I went back to academia and just recently completed a MSc in Psychology at University of St Andrews in beautiful Scotland. Trying to develop myself as a clinical psychologist with the NHS at the moment 🤞

PHILOSOPHY

My biggest dream is to travel around the world and I will definitely do everything I could to achieve that!

Mark Twain once said: "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."

I don't want to waste my life being a slave to money. I want to spend it wisely to see the wonderful world and meet new friends.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I enjoy meeting people from different parts of the world, and I love sharing cultures, history, and any interesting things. I live in a shared house so unfortunately I can't host anyone. I'd love to meet fellow travellers and locals for a coffee or a meal together though!

Though I no longer live in HK, you are still welcome to ask me anything about HK - just tell me what you want to see and experience, so I will try to give you the best local advice that is not found in travel guidebooks ;) !!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I experienced CS for the first time in my first Europe trip to Switzerland, where I met really great people who showed me and my friend around. We did a lot of interesting, local-ish things together (like cooking at the host's house!) that normal tourists could never enjoy! It was absolutely the best travel experience ever! From then, I have fallen in love with CS.

I love showing people around my city! I had my first surfer in Feb 2012, who was a Russian student who visited just for half a day. We went to the Victoria Peak, Avenue of Stars, and some popular street markets where we had so much fun bargaining, and had great dim sum!

Undoubtedly, for budget travellers like myself, CS is a good way to save accommodation cost; HOWEVER, I do not consider it a platform for free 'hostel' but actually where travellers interact with the locals, make friends, and exchange cultures! Luckily, everyone I met through CS so far was really awesome and friendly. And it is my hope that we all continue this spirit and bring love to this world of adventurers!

Interests

Travelling, meeting great people, cooking, writing, art, music, and, basically, enjoying every bit of life to the fullest!

I specifically love festivals, all kind of festivals that people gather and eat delicious, authentic food with great wine together. I like cooking as well - mostly healthy dishes. Now I'm learning to cook Cantonese from my mom and I'd love to cook and share culinary culture with CS-ers when travelling!

Music, Movies, and Books

Any movies except horrors: such as "Eat, Pray, Love" that motivated me a lot about going to visit the world and find what I really want! And "Charlie St. Cloud" - a heart-moving story about family, love, and meaning of life! I love watching TV dramas, and my favourites are Doctor Who, Rick & Morty, Orphan Black, The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Arrow, Supernatural, and Fringe. TLC is my favourite travel channel - love Jamie Oliver's and Anthony Bourdain's shows, Man vs. food, and Cake Boss!

I listen to all sorts of music from classical to rock and sometimes metal. It all depends on my mood but I usually like songs with soft melody especially when I need some moments to relax or think.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1. In 2012 new year, I visited my best friend who live in Australia and spent about a month on a road trip with him from Melbourne all the way up to Gold Coast! It was the most amazing travel experience I have ever had!
2. Worked at the Buckingham Palace during its summer opening in 2013!
3. Every trip is amazing in its own way :)
