ABOUT ME

Grew up in Liverpool, UK. Home of The Beatles! I moved to Russia for a year and a bit to work for a charity. Had an amazing time. Lived mostly in Samara, visited Moscow and St. Petersburg. Loved it. Language skills have virtually depleted which is a shame. Studied English Literature at uni, love learning about new things and have a wide range of interests. Love writing, photography, art, books, music, architecture, travel, gigs, and most importantly friends.

I love nothing more than sitting around with good people, good wine, chilling out listening to music, talking, playing cards, chatting, watching films etc. Easy going, broad sense of humour. Fair warning: awful cook!! So if you reckon you can teach someone who can barely hold the right end of a knife, then feel free to take on the challenge! I don't really eat meat, though this is not a moral/ethical thing at all.

I am optimistic, funny, happy, laid back (& modest!!) and I just like meeting new people and having a fun time. I like trying new things, even if I am really bad at them. Will definitely kick your ass at football (soccer) if given the chance!! I'm good with kids also.

PHILOSOPHY

Basically the old 'treat others as you wish to be treated'. Although I could put it in less generous terms I'm sure. I expect people to be open minded, tolerant, fun, kind, generous, and self-aware. I don't hold grudges at all and don't seem to have to try much to get on with people. I love it when I just click with a person and we get each other.

Music, Movies, and Books

Russian literature (Zhivago, Bulgakov, Dostoevsky etc), modern American literature, poetry (Neruda, Plath, O'Hara etc), non-fiction (journalistic, memoir, political). Like all kinds of music, huge passion for music. Like everything from folk to out and out pop, rock to cheesy R&B. Films - like classics, interesting, quirky films. Although I actually prefer well made TV drama or comedy than films.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you a lot of interesting words in English, as that is what I do - write! I can tell you all about the time I spent in Russia. What it's like to grow up in one of the world's most famous cities (Liverpool) and now live in another of the world's most famous cities (Oxford). I can teach you how to do kick ups with a football, draw people, and you can teach me things that I will have a go at even if I make a total fool of myself!!
