Overview
About Me
I'm Parker. I'm 23 and I live in Chapel Hill, NC, USA. I work in communications as a content creator and traffic manager for one of UNC's communication teams, but I'm a singer/songwriter and filmmaker in my spare time. I've been traveling since I was a kid. In elementary school, my mom would pack up our minivan and drive my brothers and I around on month long road trips around the US (we were home-schooled).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I really feel like the one thing we're put on Earth to do is figure out what life is, or at least what it means to each of us individually, and everyone looks for answers in different places. I'm looking for my answer by travelling and seeing the whole world, one country at a time.
Interests
Music! Number one. Always looking for new and up-and-coming artists (so send me suggestions!) I also write and record music (I have a SoundCloud if you're super interested, but it's really nothing big).
Movies! I'm really interested in film as a medium and am always down for an evening on the couch in front of a movie. I was a film minor in college and would some day like to go to film school. I'm always down for a good film discussion.
Travel! I feel like that one's obvious... I studied abroad in college and spent much of the semester solo traveling around Europe.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music:
First of all, White Denim (if you've never heard of them, they're amazing. Super indie rock-ish, tons of influences, hard to nail down a genre). Also a huge Green Day fan, Bob Marley, Cage the Elephant, and I've been getting really into prog rock and Americana lately. It's a little all over the place these days.
Movies:
Like I said, huge film nut. I love all kinds of movies. Even chick flicks. Can't go wrong with a good movie... or a bad one. They're all great. Huge fan of Italian neo-realism and French New Wave movements: Francois Truffat, Jean-Luc Godard, Vittorio De Sica, etc.
Books:
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (Ken Kesey), Slaughterhouse 5 (Kurt Vonnegut), anything by Ernest Hemingway, The Great Gatsby (Fitzgerald)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Swimming with sharks in the Florida Keys was a pretty gnarly experience (I'm so afraid of sharks, it's not funny).
Biking 300 miles from Minneapolis to Duluth and back.
Living abroad in Scotland for a semester and traveling alone.
Flew an airplane.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm always ready to learn something new. New recipes, languages, a cool yo-yo trick (just kidding, I'm terrible at yo-yos; they get all tangled and I usually need to be extracted from the mess). Whatever. Toss it at me, I'm ready.
On the flip side, I'm always happy to talk/teach about my home and where I'm from, to share my culture/recipes/language/etc. I know a good deal of random information and theories about how one makes a movie (and all the fun that goes into that) as well as a smattering of random information about how to record, mix, and master music.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Laughter, good times, stories, and a cold beer.
I'm always up to cook a meal, lend a hand around the home, or do whatever else may be needed. Put me to work!
