After several false starts, impromptu adventures, and direction changes, I’ve finally completed my undergraduate college education, and am gearing up for some adventure before I start graduate studies. I’ve travelled around the United States fairly extensively, but haven’t had the opportunity to go abroad. I’m about to head to Italy for a solo expedition, hoping to drink good wine, meet good people, and read good books in ancient ruins.

Before going back to school, I spent two years as a rock climbing instructor and guide, which remains a huge passion of mine. I love being outside, getting dirty, and ending the day exhausted and swapping stories around a campfire. I’m a passionate environmentalist, and do my best to keep my ecological footprint down and respect the only world we have.

I’m constantly in search of good stories and good times, provided neither comes at the expense of another person. I pride myself on my honesty, and am a straightforward, good-natured person.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’ve never couchsurfed before, though I have had a fairly consistent stream of travelers in America crash on various couches I’ve owned over the past few years. I’d love to meet new people, and get a better feeling for the places I’m staying.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hiked, climbed, and crawled through abandoned mining tunnels on Kauai, Hawaii in search of a canyon with permanent rainbows and zig-zag waterfalls.

I've studied Philosophy, and eventually will go back for my Ph.D, ideally in some environment-focused study. I'm always down to talk about the big questions, especially over a beer.

I'm a pretty good cook, and love cooking for others. I also know the guacamole recipe from Chipotle, for what its worth.
