About Me

Not accepting guests because I have no apartment/home at the moment.

Hi, my name is Parker, and I haven't had a permanent address in years. I travel on ~three month sessions for work, where I teach LSAT-Prep classes. I'm currently in the Birmingham-Tuscaloosa area until at least December.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Friends have been suggesting it to me for years, because I love to travel. Now that I'm again in a new city where I know no one, I thought it'd be a good way to both meet people and find a place to stay until I figure out more long-term accommodations.

Interests

Swing dancing, unusual books, craft beer, hiking, urban exploring, getting lost, taking slightly tilted photos of waterfalls, writing, and playing ukulele.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Anything by Ella Fitzgerald or Louis Armstrong, folk music, anti-folk music, whatever I've most-recently Shazam'd.

Movies: The Room, Dark comedies- in Bruges, Death at a Funeral, or Horror movies, older James Bond films, anything with Keanu Reeves, Foreign comedies, whatever Netflix has next on my suggestion list.

Books: too many to list, rather what I've most recently read was If on a Winter's Night a Traveler- by Calvino, and The Gambler- by Dostoevsky.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Finally became a minimalist, to the point where everything I have fits into a suitcase, a messenger bag, and a small cardboard box I ship through FedEx.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a pretty decent cook, let me at a kitchen and something great always happens. Otherwise, I'm told I'm a great conversationalist, and love swapping travel stories.
If I've got a ukulele, I can show you a couple easy Jazz/Islander licks, and I used to teach swing dancing.
