About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Make the world a better place, one life at a time - and be the traveller i was meant to be.. "Travel till i die"... In Australia working studying and exploring currently.. Absolutely loving my work and journey here so far as I work with young disadvantaged kids as their mentor (check it out here: aimementoring.com)

ABOUT ME

Dont want to sound too romantic about my traveling, but still I am kinda.. The following lines (from Into the Wild) I relate to, very intimately:

Wind in my hair, I feel part of everywhere
underneath my being is a road that disappeared
late at night I hear the trees
they're singing with the dead
overhead...

Leave it to me as I find a way to be
consider me a satelite for ever orbiting
I knew all the rules but the rules did not know me
guaranteed...

It's always most difficult talking about yourself, but we must all know ourselves first before we begin to know anyone else. For the moment, I feel very much that my life is well aligned and moving in balance... Spirituality has entered full time into my life and that sort of describes the kind of person I am becoming :)

PHILOSOPHY

Trust that which has brought you this far. Everything in life has led you to come here - so you're meant to be here. Enjoy it ! :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, time to update... I have had a bunch of experiences by now. Largely surfing. Some hosting as well here in Australia... And I suppose my participation is those conversations I have with CS people I have stayed with or hosted.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Like I said, a bunch of experiences. Been to many places with CS. And always impressed, each time more than the previous, with the experience. I cant imagine living in hostels or hotels, anymore. It would not be the same as traveling!!!! The joy of good company with local knowledge - phew!

Interests

1) Cinema, I am a maniac when it comes to Cinema
2) Books, I can read nearly anything
3) Languages and culture : Especially amazed at the differences in various folks!!

  • culture
  • writing
  • books
  • singing
  • cooking
  • yoga
  • meditation
  • movies
  • traveling
  • surfing
  • anthropology
  • languages

Music, Movies, and Books

I can write on and on about all three. But I name a few movie directors I love:
1) Lars Von Trier
2) Andrei Tarkovsky
3) Ingmar Bergman
4) Pedro Almodovar
5) Luis Bunuel
6) Hayao Miyazaki
7) Robert Bresson
8) David Lynch etc.

Books (writers actually) - Umberto Eco, Dostoevsky, Jorge Luis Borges, Albert Camus, Vikram Seth, Ivan Turgenev, Ramana Maharishi, Swami Sivananda, Oliver Sacks, All Sufic literature, Shakespeare, and so on. You get the drift. I could read practically anything!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have seen a ghost, though I must add I still do not believe in ghosts ... So essentially, I dont know what the hell it was that I saw!

+ In my full time work as mentor with young, disadvantaged kids, I regularly see magical moments of transformation and that's incredible!

Teach, Learn, Share

1) Cinema- to begin with
2) Languages: I love writing too
3) Yoga and meditation: have been learning/ practising for a while now! :)

Would love to learn Italian better.. Though I am improving! Currently, I think I can teach Italian, unless you are a native speaker :)...
