About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see everything out there

ABOUT ME

I grew up in the Phoenix area and am now living in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle and loving it. I had a great year living and studying in Europe while in college, and before that had the time of my life at school in Northern AZ. Right now I'm working in construction project management at an engineering firm in Downtown, and can honestly say that in my office I have some of the greatest co-workers, as well as the sweetest city AND mountain views!

While in college I studied abroad for 6 months in Cuernavava, Mexico and a year in Alicante, Spain. Speaking Spanish is one of my favorite things to do...next to road trips and riding on trains.

PHILOSOPHY

You'll never get what you want unless you take it when given the opportunity. If the opportunity doesn't come on its own, create it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I joined couchsurfing almost two years ago and have been going through phases of active and passive participation. I'm hoping to be able to host real soon, as this is where I feel you can truly appreciate the community involved in this website. Until then I'm looking forward to some more mini weekend vacations where I can meet new locals who know how to relax and have a good time.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first CS experience involved spending time with some surfers who came through Alicante and stayed with a friend. Since then I have stayed with an amazing host in a Bavarian town in eastern WA and met tons of great locals and travelers at Seattle area happy hours.

Interests

I enjoy doing just about anything outdoors, especially camping and backpacking. I'm also on a pretty great/intense softball team that is made up of some of the closer of friends I've made since moving to Washington.

I make it a point to go hiking once a week, rock climbing a couple times a month, and go running as often as I can. Snowboarding is my favorite thing to do every winter, and I have hiked the Grand Canyon almost every spring for the past 6 years or so. I've been surfing before and really want to become better at it, same thing goes for long boarding. I spend a good amount of time on GoogleEarth too.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Bourne Identity Trilogy, The Departed, Super Bad

Music: Rebelution, Speechwriters LLC, Jack Johnson, Pepper, Sublime, Thomas Cunningham, Slackstring to name a few. Pandora.com is probably what I listen to the most so I can constantly find new music.

Book: Coyote Blue and Fool by Christopher Moore

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

After taking a 40 min ski lift in the Swiss alps, I hiked two hours up hill, sometimes in foot-deep snow, dragging a sled behind me. I was with this guy from NY who I just met that morning and we hooked up with a group of Swiss kids who barely spoke any English but wanted to show us the best place to go. When we got to the top we watched the sunset, then went on the longest sledge run in Europe. It was 10 miles downhill and I crashed about 20 times before I got the hang of it and figured out how to steer. It ended up taking us two and a half hours to get down the mountain, and once we were there we just kept sledding down the streets of the neighborhood back to the train station.

Teach, Learn, Share

Countries in Europe are bigger than you would think. Don't underestimate how long it will take you to get from one to the next or to see all the sights you want to see even within one country's borders. Also, get out of the capital cities when traveling there.

Latin America is beautiful and has a lot to offer with culture, scenery and life experience. Rocky Point, Cancun and Tijuana are NOT good representations of life south of the US border.

Countries I’ve Visited

Costa Rica, Ireland, Mexico, Morocco, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
