About Me

So I was told to write something funny, smart, interesting and different in order to be successful in finding hosts.
Well.. I'm not a good writer and I dislike self-marketing.

Now to be honest, I registered on couchsurfing when I was travelling through India. As I happened to start working for a hostel chain, I didn't make much use of the couchsurfing scene there though. Working for a hostel I obviously met a lot of other travellers, some which I still call my friends.
After a year of travelling I got back to Germany and focused on finishing my studies and dealing with the reverse culture shock ;) by now my life is way more organized an settled than it used to be back then.
Now that this is the case I'm able to start hosting people aswell.

When it comes to being a guest I'm pretty easy going as I try to cause as less trouble as possible. I don't need much comfort and I don't need no 24/7 entertainment. However if you happen to spend some time with me, I'd be very grateful for that. After all I don't just want a place to stay but also get to know about you, your culture, the differences and similarities.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Despite not having hosted anyone in the past, I do have some experiences with couchsurfing, since a few of my good friends are active couchsurfers (e.g. picking couchsurfers up from the station or going for a night out). So I've heard a lot of nice stories my friends made while both hosting and surfing and would like to make my own experiences.

Interests

More than anything else I like to laugh. That's it. May it be stupid jokes, clever puns or situational humor, I'm up for it.

Furthermore I love going to gym. As some of you might know, this can be very difficult to keep up during travelling, so if I get a chance to I'd love to go and take you along.

Other than that my field of studies involves psychology which basically means I'm interested in how people behave and why they behave the way they do. I would love to see the differences in your (as well as your societies) values and points of view on different aspects of life.

I'm especially interested in comparing your life to mine. I would like to know about how you were raised, your daily life, your everyday problems as well as your goals in life and your plans to achieve them.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
I'm mostly into german and english hiphop, but always open-minded and love to hear some songs which are typical for your country.

Movies:
Well, there are a lot of good movies out there and most of them are covered by IMDb Top 250 list. I've seen a lot of these, containing all kind of genres, as well as classic and modern movies. For the sake of keeping it short I'm not going to go into detail, but just forward you to that list.

Books:
I'm not really into fiction when it comes to reading, so most of my books are specialized non-fiction books about some topic which I'm interested in at that time. This might be stock exchange, body language, burn-out, communication or general advice. Anything which is new, might grab my attetion and get me interested. However, authors who had quite an impact on me were Dale Carnegie and Hermann Hesse. As I read quite a lot, I got a list of favorites which I'll gladly share.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There are a lot stories of me doing things which amazed mostly myself. The things I'm most proud of though, might be the fact that even through the travelling, the distance, the different life-choices and personal development, I managed to keep in touch with those who are important for me.
By that I mean, that I am still in regular and close contact with friends from school, army, my university time and my travelling time.

This might sound easy for someone who just finished school, but people who've travelled a lot and met a lot of other people, might understand how much of a difficult task this can be.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach:
I might be able to give you some advice on getting into sports, healthy dieting, losing weight or gaining muscles as well as basic concepts of psychology, communication or ways how to handle situations and/or people. My range of interest is quite wide, so for a lot of topics I might have read or heard something which could help you. If you have any interest in learning the german language or questions about Germany in general I'll try my best to help you out.

Learn:
Learning is a never-ending process and self improvement my biggest goal. I'm always curious for new things to learn. This is easier said than done, but I spend a lot of time searching for new information, reading, talking spreading and receiving wisdom and knowledge. I strongly believe that curiosity is one of the strongest forces driving us and I actively try to become curious for new topics.

Share:
I'm willing to share whatever I have. However it will mostly come down to my thoughts, my stories and my experiences.

What I Can Share with Hosts

What can I offer to my hosts?
I'm not having much with me, so a female friend of mine advised me to write 'Sex'. This option is not available since I got myself a girlfriend ;)

The best thing I might offer is being a good listener, aswell as sharing my experiences and knowledge.

What my or your stay will be like depends mostly on you. It might be deep talks or a party night out, maybe some 'sightseeing' in the city or a comfortable time at home. However we'll definitely have a good time and a lot of fun.
