About Me

I don't think a description of anyone can fit in a nutshell. You will just have to find out for yourselves. Haha. Seriously though, I'm not good at describing myself.
But I guess you could say I have a sense of adventure, I can get annoyingly passionate about things I enjoy (music, travelling...). I'm quite outgoing and down to earth I suppose. I'm tolerant to a certain point... by that I mean: if you express racial/social/gender prejudice, you are not welcome in my home and I will not step foot in yours. Lets just say I don't have tolerance for intolerance!
I hope that didn't scare you off though.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My home is your home. I hope to offer more than just a roof over travelers' heads. And when I'm the traveler, well I try to exchange as much as possible, to understand their culture and to give a good perspective on what my own culture is. I'll always be extremely grateful to a person willing to share their home with me.
Traveling shouldn't be a business opportunity. It should be based on exchanging experiences. And couchsurfing in my opinion clearly respects that.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So this is just one of my couchsurfing experiences, I like this story...
I went to Ireland to study a few years ago year and didn't know where I'd be staying before I got there (a part from couchsurfing). I spent my first few days in Galway looking for a flat/house sharing. And one day my fabulous couchsurfing hosts said "hey, just stay here, there's a spare room". So I started out couchsurfing in that house and I later became the host. True story.

Interests

Anything linked to culture, traditions, arts, music, philosophy, politics, outdoorsy stuff... adventure! I'd say I have too many interests, "jack of all trades, master of none"...

Music, Movies, and Books

I love film directors such as Kusturica, Gatlif, Iñaritu, films like "Black cat, white cat", "Gadjo Dilo", "Amores Perros", there's so much out there it's hard to chose!
When it comes to music it's even harder, I'm pretty open to world music in general! I'm a big fan of gypsy/balkan music, and gypsy-punk, I love cumbia music, traditional mexicain "Son Jarocho", also love traditional irish music. I love my classics, Johnny Cash, the Sex Pistols, the Clash, UB40... a bit of everything as you can see. I sure couldn't survive without music.
As for books, well I enjoy reading theater (Samuel Beckett would be my number 1 author and other less famous french ones). I love my philosophers ( Sartre, Thoreau...) and my Poets (Baudelaire, Wilde...), and my political philosophers (Zinn, Chomsky). And stuff like Kerouac's "On the Road" is definitely in my top 10, and I would advise it to anyone that likes traveling. Also: "Shantaram"... mind blowing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I can't narrow it down to one thing only. So here's what came to mind:
Sleeping in train stations across southern/eastern Europe. Jumping off a random cliff on the Croatian coast. Walking around in Tunisia's ex-dictator's destroyed house in a post-revolutionary era. Floating in the dead sea in Israel. Being in the middle of a typical Irish pub fight in Dublin. Crowd-surfing in a massive Gypsy Brass festival. Snorkeling in Vanuatu. Getting a tattoo in Ireland. Hitchhiking in the desert.

Teach, Learn, Share

You can teach me your language/accent/slang. How to cook your favorite food. Make me discover your music. Basically anything you want to teach me, I'll be willing to learn!
