About Me

I'm an easy-going biologist who wants to see the world. I have a big interest in meeting and learning people from other countries (like everyone else here I think). Especially after my semester in Tromsø. This trio made me some kind of greedy for more international friends and experiences.

When I'm not traveling, I love to read books (especially fantasy novels), enjoying nature and the summer while listening to music or going with friends to music festivals.

Besides, I'm a huge fan of Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, The Walking Dead and Sherlock.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The reason, why I'm on Couchsurfing lies in 2014:
I participated in the International Genetically Engineered Machine (IGEM) competition. It's a competition about synthetic biology for any interested student worldwide. The time in the lab was very exhausting and our teams' results were presented at the Giant Jamboree in Boston. There were teams from all around the world and everyone was chatting and partying with everybody. It was thus amazing, all those people with different, but interesting opinions, while no one got mad at anyone. Just brilliant guys, a brilliant and memorable time. That were those days where my curiosity for other people and countries was aroused.

That's the key event, why I decided to subcribe to Couchsurfing, because I hope to find people, who have a similar curiosity after meeting local people from other countries.

Interests

In my spare time, I used to shoot with bows and arrows with my recurve bow. It's very relaxing and helps you to come down after a hard working day. Just standing there on the lawn while the sun is shining, starting to tension the bowstring during aiming the target and the upcoming joy of a successful shot - it's just great.

Of course I like to travel around the world. I've been to in the US, and it was such a great experience to witness how life goes on in other countries and continents. The people there were so friendly and the amazing landscape... There I decided to travel at least once a year to other countries and expand my personal horizon.

Music, Movies, and Books

The very best book of all time is definitely the Lord of the Rings! The world and history are so huge, there are so many important tiny details, which play an important role later in the books, the poems and fairy tales, taking you to an alternative places and times within the story... So I think it's obvious, how much I like those books :D

However, I have to mention, that The Song of Ice and Fire, or its TV adaption The Game of Thrones, is as enormous in the amount of details in story, world and history as The Lord of the Rings, but giving a more "realistic" impression of the Dark Age, than Tolkien's books, which present a sharp separation in good and evil, while the characters created by Martin, are neither black nor white but grey.

So just for summary: I do like fantasy books ;)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent several months in Tromsø, Norway, and saw an amazing landscape! Those mountains directly located at the coast, the long night and the long day, and the northern lights! I never saw anything comparable! That's something every person should have seen :)
