About Me

In a nutshell... I was born and raised in Santiago, Chile. I studied translation and interpretation because I love to be able to communicate. I've traveled around ~40 countries and one of my biggest discoveries in my late 20s was my passion for business development applied to the third sector. I consider myself a social entrepreneur and I love helping others.

As many couchsurfers, I like to think of myself as a traveler rather than a tourist.
I love getting to know places and meeting new people, sharing experiences, hiking, doing yoga, listening to music, cooking, teaching and also connecting with nature. I'm a pretty normal gal, enjoying the beautiful and simple things in life.

I believe that everything happens for a reason, and everyone we cross paths with in life has something to teach us. It is only up to us to allow it to happen. And in order for everything to make sense, we need to live life so we can look back and connect the dots.

I try to keep it simple. Keep it real. Enjoy life as it comes... and be happy!!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I usually travel by myself and I see Couchsurfing as a great way to meet like-minded people, with good hearts and no second agendas.

Interests

I've been working on the social innovation entrepreneurial world in Latin America (especially Chile) and Asia, (especially India) for the past 5 years.

I'm a Vinyasa Yoga instructor; I need meditation to keep sanity; I find cooking therapeutic when I'm at the right place with enough time; I feel cycling is liberating; I love hiking and spending some quiet times; and I also love being surrounded by people and sharing the few things I know.

I try to carry a healthy lifestyle (I don't eat meat or dairy), although more often than not, a good beer and conversation with friends and family are necessary for the heart.

Frustrations: have never learnt to play the piano or dance ballet.

Music, Movies, and Books

I looove movies, specially romantic comedies... life can be hard enough to be watching war or horror movies all the time.

Music, jazz, blues, chilled, dance, reggaeton and pretty much anything else after...

I read a lot about business strategies and current innovations, but whenever I have time I love reading novels or inspiring biographies (specially if they have history in it); and I am not ashamed to say I enjoy good self help books every now and then - I have learned loads!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

THE LUCKIEST OF LUCKS
I was 21yo, traveling by myself in Budapest when I made this amazing group of friends at the hostel where I was staying. We did everything together, but one day I was running a little late and only one of them waited for me. So we ended up seeing the city by ourselves, walking by the Danube. The sun was about to set when we saw all this people (dressing just like us) entering in a big fancy boat that read the name of an international, important company. So he said "let's try to get in and see what's up (...) the worst that could happen is that they don't let us in"... so as we where coming in, instead of asking for some sort of ID, they welcomed us with a drink. We thought we had nailed it. That we where the best... so we where up on the deck and decided to go as soon as we finish our second drink... the problem was that we were sailing before that happened. So we didn't know what to do when everyone was going down inside... we thought we would be caught if we stayed apart from the crowds, so we just adventured ourselves inside where a huge, varied and delicious buffet was waiting for this couple of backpackers that barely could afford the cheapest beer in town... "Do you know how to swim? (...) In the worse case scenario, we just jump!", was the first thing we thought before grabbing plates and starting to fill our plates with the most exquisite food... all the fruit we hadn't had in months, wine, and chocolates for dessert where there...
There where only big tables, so we sat in the furthest apart, away from everyone (and close to a stage we didn't see at the moment), when a group of English speaking people asked us if they could seat with us. We nodded shyly and limited not to look at them in the eyes... but that soon changed when we realized they where no threat to us. They even took our picture!
After eating a few more times someone stood up on the stage, and welcomed the general manager of this huge company that was just visiting Hungry. Guess what? One of the people in our table stood up to give a speech!
After him, same person said something in Hungarian and everyone started to walk up stairs to the deck, into a peach black night... so just as we had done before, we followed the crowds. And guess what? fireworks for the people on the boat!
After coffee and chocolates we left happily, promising to return for next year's as our hosts saw us off...

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach how to start a business, how to plan and convince others of what you are saying... also languages (I've been an English and Spanish teacher for a decade).

I can share my French language skills (although a little rusty), my experiences travelling, a good meal. We can do yoga together, meditate or contemplate the ceiling (also a big hobby of mine).

I'm a curious person and always open to learn more!
