About Me

I am retired after 30 years as a Police Officer in the Phoenix area, having worked in Patrol, Undercover Narcotics and Street Crimes, Gangs and as a Hostage Negotiator. I moved up to central Arizona in the mountains to enjoy nature and meet new people.

I love to travel and explore things off the well traveled path. Driving is my passion. I was a Military Policeman in the Army for 3 years, have 5 brothers, 2 daughters and 5 grandsons.

I now live alone but open my doors to new and old friends at any time of the day or night.

The statistics say that on the average, a retired Cop only lives for 5 years after retirement because of stress from the job. I am here to beat that statistic with the help of my fellow couch surfers who lead me all over the World.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I met a couch surfer who told me all about it. I have lots of room and would love to meet new people. Now that I have hosted many people from all over the world and have gotten to know them and their homes, I have to say that Couch Surfing has changed my life. For the first time in my life I feel like my eyes are truly open and I have allowed myself to grow in directions I never thought possible. My only regret is that I can't keep each and everyone of them in my home forever! Every couch surfer I have met has been beyond wonderful. I now have some returning with family for second visits. What a wonderful life!!! I wish I had known about this years and years ago. If you are a couch surfer, you are a friend and always welcome in my home any day, any night.😊

Interests

I like to ride quads, to explore old buildings and old mines. Love history and antiques, like to metal detect, go hiking and driving long distances. My new passion is meeting new people and making sure that when they leave, they will want to come back over and over!

Music, Movies, and Books

Open to all music, each song takes me back to a special memory in time. (But not afraid to tell you if you need more practice with an instrument. Lol) Love history books and movies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was a military policeman and worked at Checkpoint Charlie in Berlin Germany before the wall came down. Even then I was open to meeting new people. I made friends with a Russian soldier while we we in the middle of a "Cold War" with them.

I have to add one more thing. I drove a fellow couch surfer over 5000 km/ 3000 miles, from Az to the Canadian border (of course stopping to stay a while in Oklahoma City, Atlanta Georgia, Richmond Virginia, Baltimore Maryland, Washingto DC, New York City, Niagra Falls , Toledo Ohio and Detroit Michigan, all because I couldn't say good bye without crying. Lol. By the way, her planned stay of 3 days turned into 30 days and 19 states.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Offer hosts: Great conversation, help with any home improvement projects and friendship.

For Surfers: A safe place, a comfortable place, a fun and exciting place and the oportunity to make a true friend for life. I will do whatever I can to make your stay the best. I have been known to pick surfers up in Phoenix from the airport, dropped off or picked up 2 to San Diego, 6 to Las Vegas, 6 to LA and 1 to Canada to her next destination. It's all about making friends and helping good people enjoy life. Follow me on Instagram@Patricks2542
