ABOUT ME
gday! welcome to my couch!
sit down, relax, have a beer
my two favourite things are probably laughing and sitting in the sun. possibly with a drink in hand and some excellent company.
i just finished uni and need to hear some tales from the world as i haven't seen much of it since mid-2012, this is where you come in.
just come for a visit. the rest is pretty self explanatory.
peace
PHILOSOPHY
"the most significant development of human understanding to emerge in history is the recognition that we can threaten our own existence, indeed all other species on Earth" - Terence Williamson
"youth cannot know how age thinks and feels but old men are guilty when they forget what it was to be young" - Albus Dumbledore
"when you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot in it and hold on." - Eleanor Roosevelt
why be upset when its so much easier to be relaxed?
enjoy yourself!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
my parents have had travellers come stay since i was born and i love having them, just chilling and swapping stories over a few drinks. when i was in Denmark i got to catch up with heaps of them which was really awesome.
when i was travelling heaps of people helped me out with places to stay and general info about their country and all they did was invaluable. it was really nice to be able feel at home for a bit while you are travelling and i reckon it's been good to do the same for other people
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
we've been doing this for a while now and had a fair few surfers come stay, as well as staying with a few people. almost all of them have been fantastic people and it seems like they've all had a swell time as well. our first surfer got on so well with everyone and stayed for around a fair while, had Christmas with my family and came to a music festival with me and my mates.
we have had to take a few to hospital for various injuries, there's nothing particularly dangerous going on but you cant say you weren't warned.
i have been lucky enough to stay with a swedish family, a couple of danish families an austrian family an english girl and an irish dude. all of which were spectacular people and i had an absolute ball
we have had a bad experience with a surfer stealing a laptop as he left. it has kind of ruined it for us even though we have had so many awesome people come stay. if you are planning on nicking things can you go stay with someone else please?
Interests
people, travelling, laughing, music, having a few of the local brew, red wine, earning travel money occaisionally
Music, Movies, and Books
pretty much any movie, no julia roberts (except in hook) BANGERANG!
acoustic and alternative music, not a fan of hip hop or death metal
i spend a fair bit of time on the train when i go home to see the fam so i have to have some decent reading material. ive got a few tim wintons on the go, bill bryson, steig larsson, ken follet; thoroughly enjoyable.
could always pick up a harry potter if im still looking for a book...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
studying in denmark for a semester in 2012. it was by far the most fun i've ever had, sometimes i still can't believe how good it was. there were so many fantastic people and always something going on. i cant wait to return!
Teach, Learn, Share
there are more people with a facebook account today than were alive in the world 100 years ago. - read that somewhere
i love learning obscure words in other languages. we used to have different translations of "neuken in de keuken" (dutch people will understand) written on our kitchen walls but we had to paint over it by order of the landlords. it was pretty special and entertaining for us when new people came to visit.
i want to learn to say 'cheers' in every language. finally mastered hungarian recently. *pat on the back for me
