About Me

I am passionately studying sociology at university (M.A.) . I love to learn and to try out new things, such as adventurous leasure time activities or travelling. It inspires me to be around creative and open-minded people, to make music or read a great book, also to have deep and meaningful conversations or get out in nature to take some pictures or just get some time off. I cook with friends quite often and I'm a big fan of doing yoga (I first got in touch with yoga more than 5 years ago!).

I guess, this is the sociologist in me speaking but I don't think these kind of self descriptions are representing me or anyone else in a complete or broad manner because we all are such complex human beings with endless facettes we use for life to be able to act but at least these descriptions give a little bit of orientation. So let's get to know each other besides the internet presence! :-)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on Couchsurfing because I want to get to know people all over the world and get to know a different perspective on their lives and the cities they live in, not just as a tourist. Also, I aspire to broaden my horizon by putting myself into different cultural circumstances. Besides, as a sociology student, I'm deeply interested in people and people's views of the world!

Music, Movies, and Books

My music taste is widespread. It goes from rock or electronica to calming singer-songwriters and mellow jazz or classical music. I also love music from the old days. 60's, 70's and on, e.g. Beatles, the Doors, you name it. Artists I listen to currently are Amy Winehouse, Florence + the Machine, Kiasmos, Stavroz, Chet Baker, Lambert, Olafur Arnalds, Nils Frahm and Agnes Obel. I could go on for hours here, but there are just too many good artists to write down.
I absolutely love watching documentaries, especially about nature. But I also like movies that make you think and/or that consume you totally so you kinda forget that you are actually watching one. A movie I really like is 'into the wild'. I really love Wes Anderson's movies, too, especially 'Grand Budapest Hotel'. I also like science-fiction movies or series like Ex Machina or Rick & Morty.
One of many favourite books is 'Just kids' by Patti Smith. It describes such a pure and beautiful atmosphere. I also just finished a book of Hesse: 'Der Steppenwolf' and I really enjoyed it. Currently I'm diving into the deep and dark ocean with Jules Verne's Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea and besides that I read Eckhard Tolle's 'The Power of Now'. Some other authors I love are Paulo Coelho, J.D. Salinger and Douglas Adams.
My favourite dead artists are Salvador Dalí (I was in his museum in Spain once and it was a great experience!), Frida Kahlo, Vincent Van Gogh (Have you seen the movie 'Loving Vincent'?) and René Magritte.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A great experience I made was pushing myself out of comfort zones and boundaries that I perceived in the circumstances around me and the ones which I set up for myself. I'm still on it and it is challenging every time again but it inspires me, so I keep up with it.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I would be happy to cook with my hosts or surfers and show surfers the spots of the city where the locals go. I could also teach you some german and yoga poses.
