Hallo World!
My name is Patricia, I am 20 years old and spend my gap year between "high school" and university in the United States of America. This year means a lot to me, because I learn a lot of different things about myself and others. It's almost over now and I grew so much this year, I can't really believe it.

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

I'm on Couchsurfing because it's a great way to get to know places and people you are not familiar with. I like to get to know people with different backgrounds all around the world.

Interessen

I am playing the violin for more than 13 years now. I am learning to play the piano right now with my host kids and also spend three years learning how to play all different kinds of the recorder. Music is an important factor in my life, as well as art. I had 7 arts classes a week for the last fife years and also like to draw and paint in my free time.
Furthermore I like to make all kinds of sports. Especially in the water and snow. I like to go skiing as well as I like to surf or go stand up paddling. I started surfing two years ago, so I am just at the beginning. I also like to run and horse back riding ( we have a horse back home in Austria).
My biggest interest is to learn new things, it does not really matter about what. I just love to hear or see things, places or activities.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

I do not really have a favorite kind of music. I play a lot of classic music with my violin, but listen to Pop, Indie and electronic music. It always depends on my mood.
I read a lot of different books, I love to just start the next book I see.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

I think the most amazing thing I have done is that I decided to move to the United States for a year. I am the first person in my whole family (including aunts, uncles, cousins and so on) who lives somewhere else than Europe. A lot of people told me that this isn't a good idea and it makes no sense to take a gap year, but I did it all on my own. I love all the experiences I make so far away from home.

I can teach how to read notes and play some instruments as well as I can share my drawing skills and the Austrian dishes I know how to cook.
