About Me

I'm a Spanish girl, I grew up in Cantabria although I moved to Argentina and also lived there for five years.I currently live in Madrid during the school year but in summer and holiday I return to my homeland. I enjoy philosophy and music, I need to be critic with what happens around be, you cannot just believe anything that they tell you.
I would have enjoyed a gap year around the world or doing some volunteering in either Iceland or Australia, however that wasn't possible so I decided to start with my medicine studies, since I was not very certain about my future I went for it to see if it was made for me. It wasn't. After a years of hard-studying, visiting hospitals to check if maybe it would get better with time, I dropped medschool and studied french for a couple of months until I had to get back to Cantabria. After thinking about what I really wanted to study, my mind was divided between geology and international relations. I always enjoyed biology and because of my last experience, I donnot like it that much anymore so I didn't want that to happen with geology too, therefore I will now study international relations (which involves a lot of history and political philosophy and critical thought) and see what happens next in life.
My friends around the world are one of the things I treasure the most, they open my mind and show me different points of view I would never come to reach on my own. Ever since I started moving around the globe, I live to the day. Mabye tomorrow will be better, maybe not so I will just delight myself with the joy of every new experience.
I'm a Nak Muay, that means I practice Muay Thai or Thai Boxing. Nevertheless, I've always been into sports. I've played tennis for several years, swimming, riding, gymnastics, karate, skiing, surfing, lifting... Although I still hit the gym now, I'm just an enthusiast of surfing and thai boxing. I will eventually travel to Thailand and train there, for the moment I'll stay in Cantabria and ride the waves.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to meet people near of my region in order to practice my language skills and I want to have the chance of travelling with not only low-cost accomodation but also the chance of getting a closer look in the city due to the help of my host, it is always better when someone who knows the city shows you around and of course I cannot elude the fact that I love meeting people, so I am always open towards a new friendship. I would also accept guests if we could manage the dates in which I am at home.

Interests

As I said in the "About Me" part, sports are one of my passions being surfing and thai boxing my favorites I could add longboarding. Music, watching movies and reading books are also hobbies of mine but those will be explained in the appropiate part of my profile. Since I am in couchsurfing, it may seem pretty obvious that I adore, love and enjoy traveling around the world, it's my biggest passion because it enhances my critical view, gets me closer to different cultures and allows me to develope my language skills. You know, it is also because all of this that I chose International Relations, while geology can remain as a hobby or as a further study, IR allows me to move around the world, meet new people and learn more from them, practice another language and keep on the move and constantly learning. And as if it was not enough, it also needs to know a lot of history and that is also one of my interest, history is always interesting and our present times are explained through the past, as everything in world history keeps on repeating. You can tell that I also enjoy geology, not only seeing nature and its wonders, but understanding where they come from, how they were formed, what are they made of... Geology is our planets history so as well as human history interests me, our homeplace history does too.
I like hanging out of course but also doing routes through nature. I enjoy the enviroment, I enrole whenever I can in volunteering projects and I am playing to keep on doing it and even try to go in summer to help. I also care about people, I volunteer for the Red Cross with children and also marine rescues, ambulance in local events...

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm really interested in music, I can listen almost any type of music but for reggaeton, flamenco or comercial pop, but I respect that other people may like this, as my favorite music I listen to electronics (all kind of them, almost) and metal or hardcore.
Regional music is also very delightful to listen too and Folk music is just amazing. I've always wanted to play the guitar but I was really bad at learning so I didn't keep on trying. Pipes are also my favorite instrument because of their particular sound.
I really appreciate people that have the skill of music, it is unexplainable how magic it is watching someone play an instrument, it becomes mesmerizing.
I read a lot, constantly, always. I can read romantic novels, crime stories, historical books... One of my favorite writers is Chuck Palahniuk which is well known for Fight Club, also Irvine Welsh (Trainspotting) is a writer I like pretty much. For the rest, I have no particular writer in mind, I just read books and enjoy them or not but I don't but a book because of its writer. 1Q84 from Haruki Murakami is one I pretty much like, Wuthering Heights from Emily Brönte, Final Exam from Pauline Chen... I also try to read politics books in order to be prepared for my next studies and a lot of history. What I enjoy about books that include history,is to read those who develope the story in different countries so I keep on learning about different cultures and history at the same time.
Where I lived before Madrid, it rains pretty much a lot so watching films becomes a really good plan for the evening. Memento, Fight Club, Requiem for a Dream, Slumdog Millionare, The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Trainspotting, Tarantino's films, Braveheart, The Minions, A Bugs Life... I enjoy every kind of movie as long as it is not boring or repetitive or too easy-guess.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've went under some Iguazú falls (Brazil) as I visited the place. (?) I don't really know what it is supposed to be an amazing thing I've done. Hahaha maybe just ask me about experiences and I will be glad to share them.
For example, I have got a pen-pal for already 10 years, I met him on an aeroplane as I was returning from Argentina for holiday and ever since we write to each other. He is about 92 years and is the person who has seen more world that I know.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you catch me while I'm in Cantabria, I can teach you surfing, the place, take you to do interesting routes through the coast and show you a little bit of the history of this place. If you stay by me in Madrid, there is plenty to do there.
I can share all my knowledge with hosts as long as they are interested in conversation and debating or just chatting, I already explained pretty much of my tastes above but I guess you cannot know a person with a few paragraphs and I cannot describe my whole self in them. But I am willing to teach as much as a I can and learn even more.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My experiences, walks or routes in the places I live, tips for what to visit. Food, a local view of the place, food and traditional dishes, nice talks of course and good company.
As I said, I really want to know more people and enjoy a time with them, show them around, if they want of course, and learn from their cultures. I pretty much already said in "Teach, Learn, Share" what can I do for my guests and for further information, I am delighted by contacting messages!
