About Me

I like to think of myself as a traveler type, especially on foot in wilderness. I have a small network because I'm a transplant so I'm always interested in meeting new people. I run long distances (half and full marathons with an eye on ultras in the future), read a lot of fiction and non-fiction, and am very into photography and other digital art ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/meta474 ). Always looking for people to be a subject of photography and I have a bit of a studio lighting setup in my apartment.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'd like to meet some new people and get some karma to spend when I need a place to stay elsewhere. To be honest, I miss the format that you got to enjoy with your friends when you were a kid -- the sleepover!

Music, Movies, and Books

Long list of all these. I listen to a lot of electronic-type music these days (flume, disclosure, purity ring, etc. etc.) but also tons of classic rock, alternative and I used to be into metal and other harder types of rock but it's been a long time. I'm open to anything.

I watch a lot of movies. Some of my favorites are Heat, Last of the Mohicans, Nightcrawler (not the comic book hero), no country for old men -- the list goes on and on.

Books I don't know where to begin. Dune by Frank Herbert is my all-time favorite right now, but that tends to shift. Ender's game, goedel escher bach, ishmael by daniel quinn, snow crash and anathem by neal stephenson, neuromancer by william gibson, etc. etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well I've thru-hiked the Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada about three full times and a few long partials. I've also done the continental divide trail. My trail name is Joker.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Floor space, shower, I can probably buy you dinner either at the restaurant I manage or somewhere else. I usually have some alcohol lying around, too, haha.
