About Me

Hey there,

I am a 26yo German backpacker looking forward to learn about another country, culture and overall way of life. Friends describe me as a honest, charming, down-to-earth and cheerful person who is open-minded and always keen for something interesting and new.

Latest travel news:
For the last year, I've been traveling through Australia, working in the cities and staying in nature in between. Over a duration of 5 months I lived in an eco village experiencing communal lifestyle and also participating in building/permaculture projects/workshops. During the last few months I dreamed more and more of travelling back to Germany visiting every country on the way, starting from Indonesia. Mainly, I want to learn more about alternative building styles and am keen to commit to projects that evolve around naturally conscious topics. I would also love to keep up with regular Yoga practices (I plan on doing a teacher course) and learn more about Tai Chi or Marital Arts that focus on balance of body, mind and soul.

The mentioned eco village was also a retreat center offering delicious vegetarian/vegan meals three times a day. I helped out preparing lunch and dinner and overtook doing breakfast for up to 50 guests. So, I'm glad to share some recipes... or rather cooking skills since I never actually stick to recipes :D

Before coming to Australia I lived in Berlin where I took classes in area studies (basically cultural sciences) focusing on east Asian/Japanese culture for about 3 years. Afterwards I was occupied in a web agency fulfilling editorial and design-related tasks for several projects. It's a really great feeling being part of a process, seeing the project grow and being confident with the result.

I am a nature and animal loving person who is always open for alternative life styles, diets and forward-looking ecological solutions. Also, I am a vegetarian (not the missionary kind, I don't like that either) trusting on organic food of local origin, at least when my wallet lets me.

Well, that's it for now. If you would like to know more about me, just go ahead an ask. When I get back home to Germany, I plan to be a host for one or the other lost soul as well ;)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As stated above, mainly to learn more about another country and way of life and of course, finding a new friend here and there ;)

Interests

In my spare time I am a pretty sportive fella. I started bouldering/rock climbing over a year ago and I'm loving it. Other than that I enjoy playing table tennis and badminton or an occasional swim. Recently, I've gotten more into Yoga and Tai Chi as well (as mentioned above).
I'm kind of a nerd, too, and like to talk about music, movies, tv shows, anime and video-games but also every other topic - I just like contemplating and discussing about a lot of things.

Music, Movies, and Books

Of course, I like movies (especially the kind that messess with your head but I also heave a guilty pleasure for animation movies), a good read and one might see me as a music addict. My taste varies from electronic music and singer/songwriter stuff all the way to heavier tunes - basically well-done music of any kind. I was also told I'm quite the dancer :D

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Caught a bottle of beer in mid-air before it hit the ground. It can't get more amazing than that.
