Overview
About Me
Just quit my tech job when I got bored being in a big company. No idea what's next, but let's put off that decision for a while. Until then, I want to travel, meet new people and learn some fun skills.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Meeting people is my favorite part of traveling. A good conversation with a stranger will save my day when I'm feeling tired of travel. I've usually stayed in hostels, which makes this easy, but people there aren't often locals and I've felt like I missed out.
Interests
I'm been addicted to taking classes for new skills. Lately it's been improv, salsa dancing, and swimming. I tend to spread myself too thin which prevents me from getting great at any of them, but I have fun anyway.
- dancing
- running
- piano
- software
- improv
Music, Movies, and Books
I read a ton of nonfiction, especially pop science. Some recent favorites:
- "The Gene, an Intimate History" about the history of genetics
- "I Contain Multitudes", talking about all the microbes that live inside our bodies
- Einstein's biography by Walter Isaacson
For music, I like pretty much anything that's catchy and danceable. If I can't help but tap my feet, I'm in. I love a great dance party but my weekends have become more mellow lately.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Climbed Kilimanjaro last summer and now want to find some new high altitude treks.
Other fun facts:
- Went to Burning Man 3 times
- Was once a counselor at a piano camp
