About Me

Currently I am: Traveling solo around the US, living out of a van, and visiting our National Parks and cities while finding geocaches and interacting with others! Here is my route: http://goo.gl/gGh9BN

I am happy, adventurous and interested in people! I have many different titles that I am proud of: Camp Counselor, Geocacher, Disney Cast Member, YouTuber, Redditor, Hobbyist, College Grad, Collector, Shower-Singer, Halloween Horror Nights Expert and more!

My favorite activity is interacting with and learning about people. Staying up late and having discussions with others about life, beliefs, values, passions and farts is what I live for.

I also have run a YouTube channel for a couple of years in which I vlog my Geocaching adventures with friends and strangers! Check it out for a look into my personality: https://www.youtube.com/user/geocachingpat92

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The idea of instantly connecting with someone I have never met in the interest of exchanging each others company is exciting! Why stay in a hotel room by yourself when you can get to know another like-minded person? I love the idea of meeting new friends through such an interesting way and I hope to share my personality and qualities with others.

Interests

I am constantly jumping from hobby to hobby and I find when one strikes my interest, I go into it 100% and learn/experience all aspects of it.

Movies, geocaching, and summer camp are some of my long lasting passions.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: There Will Be Blood/The Master (anything P.T.A.!), Cabin in the Woods, Harold and Maude, The Fall, The Dirties, Her, Lost in Translation, anything Tarantino, anything Wes Anderson, Y Tu Mama Tambien, Signs, most Pixar, anything Charlie Kaufman, etc....

Books: My all-time favorite, "can re-read any day" is The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak. When I'm not in the middle of a re-read of it, I am probably reading something by Stephen King!

Music: Anything that moves me! Grew up with classic rock (thanks, Dad!) but have expanded my horizons greatly. Favorite band: Sigur Ros!!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have spent the last 17 summers of my life attending and working at Good Counsel Camp, a summer youth camp in Florida. After having 8 wonderful years as a camper, I worked a summer as kitchen staff before graduating to a counselor. I worked 6 years as a counselor (4 of those as Department Head of Archery and Riflery) and then got my dream job as Head Counselor!

I was Head Counselor for 2 years, during which I managed a staff of 30 and created the daily program, while also maintaining 12 cabins of about 130 campers for 4 sessions a summer.

Summer camp is the best thing that ever happened to me and is what made me the person I am today! Anybody else out there who did summer camp knows what I mean and I would love to swap experiences.

Teach, Learn, Share

Random things I can teach: Rubik's cube, juggling, how to shoot a bow and arrow, magic tricks with a deck of cards, Geocaching

I am always down to sit and share my experiences as a person with others. On the flip side, I greatly enjoy sitting down and learning about another person and what their life has been like, what they are passionate about and what they have to teach me.

I am an open book!

What I Can Share with Hosts

My personality. I am extremely easy going and fun to be around. I will make you feel comfortable and happy to have the company. I easily adapt to my environment and I will adjust according to what you are interested in. If you want to hang out all night talking about life, I am down. If you want to play a board game, watch a movie, or anything, I am down.

I can also take you out Geocaching if you never have before or if you enjoy going! It's a fun, free way to explore.

If needed, I can cook very minimally (think mac and cheese, frozen pizza, hot dogs and hamburgers)
