My best friend and I are currently headed down the west coast from the top of WA to the bottom of CA on our bicycles.

ABOUT ME

I grew up in a small town area of Wisconsin and saw a lot of corn and cows. I was a punk rocker in a very small and conservative setting. The plus side of living in such a small rural place was that I grew up camping and gaining a deep respect and love for nature. I spent a week at OWS in NY in 2010 and hitch-hiked out to, down, and back from the west coast for 4 months two years ago. During that time my girlfriend and I did couch surf on a few occasions and had great experiences. That's most of my traveling experience right there but it was fun and sparked in me the drive to travel all over and see everything I can. My friend that I'm traveling with got me interested in bicycles a year and a half ago and I have devoted most of my free time to that, since. The natural fusion of my camping and biking has put me on many weekend trips in the area and is culminating in this odyssey (and many more to come, I'm sure. I plan to do the Tour Divide sometime relatively soon).

PHILOSOPHY

I'm an anarchist/feminist/environmentalist/vegan. There's too much behind a persons beliefs to write it all down in a format like this and any person actively engaged in life is probably changing all the time. Those are just the major ones I probably will keep with me forever. To know my personal philosophy in any intimate way you'd just have to spend time with me and find out.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

While couch surfing my girlfriend and I cook meals for our hosts and help keep things tidy. Also, our couch is usually open in Madison so if you're (going to be) in the area, drop either one of us a line. We'll most likely be glad to host you.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couch surfed a couple times on a 4 month west coast hitch-hiking trip. Mostly in Portland. Stayed in an amazing house above the Red & Black Cafe (anarchist vegan cafe in the SE district). They were incredible hosts. We had a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to seeing them again on this trip.

I bike, camp, play guitar, and want to learn to speak other languages, travel more, and see everything I can in this life. I'm always finding new things interesting. There's not enough time on this earth to satisfy all my curiosities.

I play the guitar, I can hand sew, I can camp, I build and fix bicycles, and I cook/bake and specialize in cooking vegan. I have gardened and know the basics of that although that is not a specialty of mine at all.
