Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Get to know Iceland, and have a glorious return to France and Belgium.
ABOUT ME
Adventurous and fun-loving. I'm looking for opportunities to meet new people, learn about new cultures, and exchange perspectives (preferably over a glass of wine or a bottle of beer). And I do everything I can to be a respectful and accommodating guest/host. I work in urban design and transportation planning in New York, and live in Brooklyn. I studied environmental policy and French at the University of California, Berkeley, and lived in Lyon, France, for six months.
PHILOSOPHY
After the basic necessities (food, water, shelter), the most important and fulfilling aspect of life is the relationships you build with other people. Everything else--money, fame, material goods--either serve to accomplish social goals, or are significantly less important. This applies to travelling as well, hence my CS account.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm interested in actively getting to know the people I stay with. I'm more than happy to take a host out to dinner in return for letting me surf, and I hope those that I stay with will have the time and interest to show me around. No better way to get to know a place in a few days.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Brussels and Ghent in Belgium and Amsterdam in the Netherlands. My Ghent host, my first CS experience, was incredible. He loved his city, and showed us the parts of it that were significant to him. It was a really great experience.
Interests
I rock climbing, biking, hiking and generally spending time outdoors. Sports-wise, I'm a fan of basketball and tennis. I love gardening. When I have time to read, it's a decent range of American and French literature. I love to cook and learn new dishes. As for conversations, I'm not picky; in particular, I find cities and political structures and related current events extremely interesting, and enjoy discussing differences between systems.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach a few dishes that I grew up making in California, love to talk about political systems and city planning, can teach new games (including drinking games), and love to discuss differences and similarities between cultures.
What I Can Share with Hosts
