About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To travel and meet people. I am currently on a cross country bike tour and will be cycling for a year.

ABOUT ME

I live in Seattle and all I really want to do is sew and write and paint and travel. My travels have taken me all over the US, to Fiji, Japan, India, South Korea, England, Canada, and Mexico. My philosophy in life is that it is too short to spend being mad or grumpy. If I'm not doing the big things like finding a cure for cancer or creating world peace, then it will be the little things that count, so I strive to be positive in all my encounters with the people I meet - I'd rather help make someone's day a little bit better, rather than a little bit worse.

PHILOSOPHY

To live as unburdened as possible. To enjoy life and not get anxious over things I can't control. To love my friends and work on my friendships. To be open to new possibilities and to endeavor to be spontaneous.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now I cannot host as I am on a one year trip bicycling around the US. I hope to couchsurf the whole way, meeting people and making new friends.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have couch surfed with friends and friends of friends, and through warmshowers.com, but not yet through this organization. I have also traveled to cities and taken care of pets while their owners are away. It's a good way to stay in one place for a week or more.

Interests

Art, literature, movies. Politics & religion (even though my father said never to discuss them!) Traveling of course. People. Culture. Anthropology.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite books: Jude the Obscure by Thomas Hardy; The Brothers K by David James Duncan; The Sheltering Sky by Paul Bowles; The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz

Favorite Movies: The Man Who Would be King; The Motorcycle Diaries; The King and I; Starman (notice a theme here? - travel to distant places, being a stranger in a strange land.)

Favorite Music: Tom Waits, Patsy Cline, Talking Heads, Buena Vista Social Club, Led Zeppelin, too many others to list...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once drove a 18 wheeler across the flat lands of Utah - very illegal, but fun. I climbed Mount Fuji. I cried when I finally saw the Taj Mahal in person.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach? Well, I have a head full of practically useless information, unless of course I ever get on Jeopardy! or Millionaire. I'm a fairly good cook and could teach a new recipe or two.
