About Me

I am a curious (read "a little strange", in addition to "inquisitive"), adventurous individual. I enjoy meeting all types of people, and learning about different cultures. I am extremely interested in the natural world. I do wildlife ∧ botany survey work for my hobby/job in remote locations around western North America. I enjoy camping, skiing, biking, mountaineering, reading, and playing ∧ listening to music. Recently, I've taken a strong liking to surfing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet new friends. To discover ∧ hang out in new, interesting places. To find new sources of vitality and wonder. To boldly go...

Music, Movies, and Books

I started listing authors for a while, and there were too many to list. I, like many people, enjoy it a lot (music). I enjoy many varieties of electronic music, roots ∧ americana, blues, hip-hop, reggae, many types of rock ∧ metal, funk, world music... One of my main reasons for being on couch surfing is to meet open and eccentric music people :) I enjoy movies, and generally don't watch too many blockbusters.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiked across southern Snowdonia National Park in Wales overland and off trail...found some excellent ruins, waterfalls, and several summits ranging from remote to crowded...On a local's advice, I continued a climb past the top of the highest mountain in the area and descended a different side to a nice seaside town on the last afternoon. I got fish & chips and beer by the sea the same day.

Teach, Learn, Share

I enjoy brewing beer, and have been doing it for 14 years. It is fun and tasty. I have been learning guitar for quite some time now (with limited success) and am a student of the drums. I do have a bit of experience with the natural sciences as well :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

An open mind, conversation, the potentiality of finding kindred spirits. I can also cook a few things with some degree of expertise :)
